President-elect Joe Biden will reportedly nominate Tony Blinken, who served as Deputy Secretary of State and as Biden’s former national security adviser during the Obama years, to be his secretary of state.
One thing I’ve read lately: Biden’s people don’t leak. Bit of a new situation for journos used to the leakiest admistration they could remember. Suggests a certain level of professionalism and loyalty.
The Guardian has an informative article on him giving a lot of his personal information and history:
Sounds like a great choice:

AstraZeneca vaccine news:
The trials used two different dosing regimens, one of which was 90 percent effective in preventing Covid-19 and the other of which was 62 percent effective.
The regimen that was 90 percent effective involved using a halved first dose and a standard second dose. Oxford and AstraZeneca also said that there were no hospitalized or severe cases of the coronavirus in anyone who received the vaccine, and that they had seen a reduction in asymptomatic infections, suggesting that the vaccine could reduce transmission.
The Biden Administration is getting down to business and away from monkey business. It feels like hitting new pavement after a forty mile bad road detour.
I was in West Germany during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Even us kids knew how serious it was…and the idea of having Allies really meant something to us.
The Stars and Stripes was quite poetic about it when it was Over.
“Furthermore, the vaccine’s simple supply chain and our no-profit pledge and commitment to broad, equitable and timely access means it will be affordable and globally available, supplying hundreds of millions of doses on approval.”
The UK’s order of 100m doses of the Oxford vaccine is enough to vaccinate most of the population – with rollout expected in the coming weeks if the jab is approved.
