Dear Dem Nominee Biden, Do it only if it there is minimal risk to your health and safety! And remember NOT to drink tea esp. those laced with ā€œPutiniumā€/poisonous substanceā€¦just saying!

I really really hope this stays in the cartoon pages only!

I really hope someone on Bidenā€™s campaign is smart enough to call out the basement thing with, ā€œWell itā€™s nice to see Donald out of the bunker, but we sure wish heā€™d wear a mask.ā€

Iā€™m torn about this. If they can do it safely, and not look hypocritical, fine. Then again, maybe they should wait a couple of weeks and see how many people who attended the RNC spread-fest events end up in the hospital. Not that they will admit how many people test positive.

Yeah, starting this up (depending on what ā€œin-person campaigningā€ means, specifically) seems kind of contradictory when you made sure to do a virtual convention.

If he is listening to the scientists as he says he will, he is going to do this in the safest way possible. He, above everyone else, knows he is no good to anyone if he gets incapacitated in any way.

Let him show the leadership he has promised us by listening to the scientists and doing this in the safest way possible.

Yep, time to play compare and contrast.

Which, it actually hasnā€™t.

+5 to +8 is powerful.

Letā€™s take the Senate and then indict McConnell, Paul, Cruz, and all the rest of the #TreasonCaucus

Iā€™m not sure in-person campaigning has ever really helped Biden. He tends to make most of his gaffs when heā€™s speaking to a crowd. I actually thought he was doing a lot better without them. I guess weā€™ll see.

It appears the R team is performing an incremental coup ā€” shutting down the key parts of the govt step by step ā€” in the interests of gaining the upper hand in November.

  • The post office has been successfully hobbled
  • Mail in ballot applications are being challenged (successfully in at least one case) in court
  • A non-surprise October surprise is sitting on Bill Barrā€™s desk waiting to be dumped on Bidenā€™s head
  • Election interference by Russia will be encouraged and hidden from the public

What are the chances, should they ā€˜winā€™, that theyā€™ll ever back off from their new-found superpowers?

This is the only article on TPM that mentions Biden in its lead. Every other article on TPM, except those about Falwell or the one on DeJoy are all trump. Biden is massively out numbered articlewise. Canā€™t there be more on what Biden is up to? Or doesnā€™t he generate enough ā€œclicksā€?

Biden needs to do this, or at least he needs to get to the battleground states. I fear for his health, and Iā€™m going to pray he stays safe. I donā€™t really believe in g-d, but Iā€™m still going to pray.

Admittedly, I donā€™t really understand the complaint voters have sometimes, that he or she never came here, but it comes up, especially among the grievance voters and the slightly less aggrieved. So itā€™s good Bidenā€™s going. There are some voters who need to be loved.

As Ezra Klein pointed out, Joe Biden likes you. Itā€™s one of his gifts that he can project that. I hope he uses it well.

Yeah, starting this up (depending on what ā€œin-person campaigningā€ means, specifically) seems kind of contradictory when you made sure to do a virtual convention.

He can campaign outdoors, and I expect thatā€™s what heā€™ll be doing. And even a town hall can be arranged to conform to social distancing rules. A convention, not so much. Far too many people.

This can be done. Iā€™m sure they planned to start showing the flag anyway after the conventions were over and the campaign began in earnest. Personally it seems to me that outdoor events are pretty safe. Virology expert Linsey Marr says indoor versus outdoor is comparable to a drop of dye in a glass of water versus a drop of dye in the ocean. Thatā€™s why there were no infection spikes after the main wave of BLM protests. We know more about this than we did in March and April.

No plans to go to Michigan. That seems like making the same mistake twice.

Heā€™s a decent human being. Perfect? No. Got a bit of a temper, can be a little over casual, justā€”not perfect. But not a psychopath, so heā€™s got that going for him.

Sounds reasonable.

I hope he is taking Kamala with him.

I am not sure how necessary it is, but itā€™s an opportunity to contrast with the other side about how to ā€œsafelyā€ run an event, because itā€™s what weā€™re all looking at for the next coupla years.
