Biden lived through the Affordable Health Care macinations in the Obama administration where the Democrats changed the bill to accommodate Republicans and then every one of them voted against it. Had the Democrats had their way, we would have some variation of Medicare for all. But they trusted the Republicans and the Repubs acted without honor. I do not see any reason to expect any different outcome. That said, I would go through the process, include 10 Repubs on the bilateral team, and then have a vote. Show them, once again, for what they are - more interested in power than governance.

I havenât heard this is in a couple of years but toll roads seem to be the Republican way. But I think as we are seeing putting the essential infrastructure in the hands of business doesnât mean that weâll get fair value for the price we pay.
I wontâ bore you with my local sewer company incompetence, or American Water which is in charge of most of the water delivery systems in the country.

At different times both Sinema and Manchin have come out for and against using or re-using the budget reconciliation process. They impose conditions.
For example, not too long ago:
Sen. Joe Manchin, the moderate Democrat from West Virginia, said he would consider passing legislation through a party-line vote again but only in a situation where Democrats have tried to engage Republicans.

At some point the American People will have to demand this Infrastructure Bill. The ways of going about this will have to be done in ways best suited for 2021 expressions of public demand.

I really dont think any Dem Senators believe that they will get a single R vote in the Senate if raising Corp taxes is part of the deal. This is about calling the GOPâs bluff and showing independents and the Media that there is to âBipartisan Dealâ to be had. This is what learning form the Obama era looks like.

Alright, time to play Devilâs advocate. This bill is a giant grab bag of things tangentially related to infrastructure and allocates billions to things that will make for great PR for the naysayers.
The only positive aspect of this collage of spending is that it may contribute to creating a larger variety of jobs than the narrow bills proposed by the Republicans.
Prediction: down to $1.6 - 1.7T before Manchin gets on board the Amtrak and public transpo express.
