The infrastructure plan that President Biden is set to announce in a speech in Pittsburgh on Wednesday aims to transform the country at its roots, renovating its transportation network while committing the U.S. to providing universal access to broadband internet and clean water.
“This is an important moment to demonstrate that the U.S. and democracies can deliver for the people they serve”
While some democracies my be able to deliver for the people they serve, as long as Mitch and the Republicans serve the US will never be able to deliver for the people, their mission is to deliver for the 1% and corporations.
Rolling back the Trump tax cuts is a start on payment, but they really need to increase taxes on the ultra wealthy, I would settle for half-Ike rates on anything over 5 million in income from all soucres.
I like the order of priorities that Biden and team Biden have set. Some of these areas have been talked about, and talked about for a long time. Hell some of these areas have been talked about by Republicans.
But the most important question is which color will be assigned which priority?
The senior White House official likened the bill to the creation of the Interstate Highway System under President Dwight Eisenhower
Took the country (and Ike) more than thirty years to get from perceived need to comprehensive solution. In between there was the Great Depression and World War II. And finally, as happens when such large infrastructure projects are put in place, there were, as you’d expect, winners and losers.
Biden’s Plan is quite important…and what’s in it will be about as “common” to future generations as TV was to the Boomers.
I had seen some writing on Manchin being open to infrastructure, but it seems that ruminating about Trump still pushes necessary topics off the National Conversation.
I can’t wait to see the Republicans try to shoot this down. This legislation will spawn a million local political ads for Democrats to use against the GOP.
On the surface this sounds really good and is long overdue. I’m sure there will be some devil in the details and wrangling over who gets what but Biden seems to be going big on this one, glad to see it.
