I hope that the Republicans who do choose to show up to vote in this election, which Skanky Turdface and many Republican Party leaders have deemed illegal, choose to write in Trump MAGA 2020 with a Sharpie instead of voting for Perdue or Loeffler. This will generate more popular votes and make Skanky more popular with Lindsey and Iwanker.

I’ve started over more than once. But yeah, Murkowski. I’m thinking Biden and his team will understand that there are, in fact, people they can work with occasionally to get key legislation passed. Trump would just demand stuff. Real senators understand how to make a deal. We’ll see, is my prediction.

Trump totally wants the Dems to win in Georgia. Just think what the outcome of a double Dem win in the senate runoff would be from a Trumpian perspective.

  • A big FU to the Georgia GOP. They were insufficiently loyal to Trump and deserved to lose.
  • Totally cements Trump as the GOP power broker. If you don’t support him, you lose.
  • Removes Mitch from a position of power, leaving Trump as the sole head of the GOP.
  • As sole head of the GOP, gives Trump some leverage to promise God knows what to whomever he owes his $400M that he’s good for it in the future, either in $$ or in favors.

No downside from the Trump POV here.

Here’s a defining moment for you,of all people being called out early in a brand new year, and MUCH deserved BTW.

Senate rules still require 60 votes to advance most major legislation; for now, there aren’t enough Democrats willing to change that requirement.

This is the well-known Enabling Hostage-Takers Rule, a time-honored tradition.

… well then there is nothing more to say other than

…please proceed … sir

But only, ONLY, if Moscow Mitch is not running the show. Regardless of Republican support for any particular legislation, if Mitch doesn’t allow it to the floor, their support is as irrelevant as what the Democrats want.

I think our electronic devices can choose political parties for themselves… either that or my phone just plainly hates me.

If Manchin wanted to be a Republican, he would have switched a long time ago. Plus there’s not much they could bribe him with. The ACA is very important to him, there is not way he will agree to any attempts to eliminate it. He’ll have much more leverage as a Democrat than as a Republican in a Democratic controlled senate.

I remain unconvinced that trump has any political future after high noon on 1/20/21. He will likely be dealing with both civil and criminal proceedings, and who knows what other avalanche of scandal and corruption will emerge once he no longer wields the levers of power.

Many years ago, we knew a man that grew up in the northern part of the state. As a young teacher, he taught in Dalton where he discovered that “helpin’ your Daddy put up his shine” was an excused absence.

I bet he is doing this too. Nonetheless, the Republicans will pull out all the stops. Like, offering him to be the chair of Judiciary and chair of Ways and Means*, and one other chairmanship to be named later.

* I don’t think the Senate’s equivalent is called “Ways and Means,” but whatever.

Mitch gonna Mitch. I just saying broadly that Biden, Harris, their teams, and Barack conferenced in on the discussion will play the game a hell of a lot more smartly than a certain current occupant I could name who never really played or learned it at all. Might just make a difference here and there.

A post of mine from Yesterday…

[I don’t know if anyone has commented on this elsewhere, but there was an interesting cartoon skit right around New Years arrival (EST) which included cartoon versions of

  • Joe
  • Trump
  • McConnell
  • Giuliani

the latter three in very unflattering portrayals. I did not catch the channel …but it definitely was NOT a BothSider affair. :sunglasses: :sunglasses:]

What was striking to me was McConnell’s appearance in a highly negative light. For someone who prides himself on Low Key Evil…Moscow McConnell has managed to get his name in lights.

It’s probably never happened before in this country where the nation is depending on Georgia to protect us from Kentucky.

The answer to the question “to what end” is: an ego trip for himself, a chance to attack all of the “RINOs” who haven’t agreed to anoint him “Emperor for life” and to vomit up more BS about Hunter Biden.

This trip has nothing, but absolutely nothing, to do with the election. It’s all about him. It always is.

I agree, but I think you’re attributing too much strategic thinking to Trump. Mostly he’s mad a GA for not voting for him (your top bullet point). He would never be able to come up with the other three of your bullet points.

You can take that to the bank.

The man is broken in front of our very eyes, and there is no getting around that.
