President Joe Biden, flanked by banners calling to “RESTORE ROE,” promised Tuesday to sign legislation codifying abortion rights first thing in January if Democrats win enough seats to pass it.
It’s about danged time. This should have been shouted from the rooftops by all Dems, led by the President, in the hours after SCOTUS decided the case.

I wonder if the timing of this is too late or too early. Polls seem useless this year. I mostly stopped going to 538 as I found it less insightful.
I hope the polls are all wrong. The demise of Roe by SCOTUS is a big wild card that isn’t really factored in. A lot of young women like my 28 year old niece are mad as hornets and ARE going to vote. Yet, we see things like this. Democrats peaking too early and republicans being better closers isn’t anything new.
We’re told they’re in peril because the vox populi has not been heard. GOOPs or anyone else who tries to destroy these safety nets will find out real quick how much they’ve misjudged us.
Polls, can’t live with them, can’t live without them, and over the years polling has been proven wrong more often than right. I personally haven’t been polled in years, either by phone or by some organization. So it depends on who responds, but I’m not one of them. I doubt most of us are.
“Threaten” is the operative word. And I’ll remind you what FDR said in a time more perilous than the one we’re living through: “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”

I turn to the very wise Eugene Robinson of the WaPo when I’m all shook up, and I found these words of his just what I need when I’m told we’ve lost before we’ve even fought. Asked for words of advice from a shaky reader he replied
Just that Americans who love democracy are not powerless. We outnumber the MAGA crowd. If we vote in large enough numbers we can overwhelm all the voter-suppression and election-denial tactics. But that requires “non-likely” voters – especially young people – to bestir themselves and vote for what they say they believe in.
I cannot agree with this enough. Online, I believe that we males (including Yours Truly) err on the side of eeyore-ism more than ladies.
It has a lot to do with trying to be fearless in the Face of “doom” and being able to slough it off.
There is also a benefit when someone like @pluckyinky lays waste to the eeyore-ism in a few swift streaks of logic (and it eases the fear of the eeyore hidden-style 
)
Kidding aside…Gloom is a poor motivator.
A righteous pledge. IF he has a Congress willing to go along with this, he needs to add another Bill to enshrine Voting Rights, including Universal Vote-by-Mail for EVERY citizen for the United States. Vote-by -Mail has been the biggest boon to voter participation since the founding of the Republic.
Aditionally the new Congress needs to admit WDC and Puerto Rico as the 51st and 52nd states.
All Righteous acts, but the big IF is whether he will have enough votes to pass anything in January 2023.
It may be that abortion rights have lost the power to move us. The economy and all our fears around, gas and food prices for instance, are what concern us more.
