Biden Privately Skewered Rupert Murdoch As ‘Most Dangerous Man In The World,’ Book Says

President Joe Biden privately went in on Fox News and the right-wing media tycoon who chairs its parent company, Rupert Murdoch, according to CNN’s excerpt of an upcoming book by New York Times reporters Jonathan Martin and Alexander Burns.

…because he is.

(Cue the hand-wringing and/or outrage because Biden said something, plainly and directly, out loud, that everyone knows is actually true.)

Hard to argue with a man who tells the straight truth without hemming or hawing.

If only Pablo Escobar could have been made to understand the real damage that cocaine was doing to America.

Seems like the commander-in-chief might want to order that Fox News is no longer standard fare in military mess halls.

Generations of people basically propagandized. I used to watch the news with my Dad in the 1960s. Unrecognizable…I muse about keeping a running account of things the United States would never have accomplished if FOX were an outlet…

Of course our corporate media will hammer Biden for saying the obvious in private at the same time applauding fascistgoopers for spewing bullshit Qdirt about Democrats loudly and publicly. Fair and balanced is the credo of the corporatists, if it’s good enough for faux it’s good enough for them.

Lachlan Murdoch is even worse, and unless the FSM decides otherwise we will have the SOB for decades to come. It is said that Lachlan support is the reason Tucker Carlson has not been given “vacations”.

I’ve been saying that about Fox for decades. I feel reassured that Biden understands how dangerous Murdoch is. The 3M alliance (Murdoch, McConnell, and Moscow) is lethal.

In fact, even former Fox executive Preston Padden publicly called out Murdoch in a scathing Daily Beast op-ed last year for failing to “understand the real damage that Fox News is doing to America.”

Guess he was too close to that evil to see it while he was busy cashing those 7 figure paychecks. Chickenshit.

It’s only lethal if you don’t comply.

A shot across the bow for Joe. It certainly will not change the minds of FOX viewers. If there is a battle here, it is the one between the ability to portray reality and the ability to manufacture it in the Post Truth Era.

And, here, it is instructive to look at dictatorships, totalitarians, tyrants

The real culprit is Americas monstrous appetite for shit. Escobar and Murdoch just lacked the scruples and went on to profit from it.

Though it’s surprising how many people are willing to take on the challenge.

The President also reportedly “assessed” Fox News as “as one of the most destructive forces in the United States.”

He’s not wrong.

Sadly, you are all too right about that.

Our country and government has been more than kind to old dingo face Rupert. In 1985 he was granted citizenship, few questions asked basically amnesty. From gutted rules for media consolidation to the various tax subsidies News Corp has benefited from they are practically their own welfare state. We New Yorkers have had to put up with his purchase of the New York Post, land grab for a printing plant, gutting local news on Channels 5 & 9 as well as Guiliani giving up a public access channel for FNC. I once read that he paid around 11% in taxes which is less than a typical working class American that he claims to champion. The worst part is how he has coarsened and dumbed down the public discourse. The News Corp/British phone hacking scandal a decade ago ought to have been just cause to at least review his broadcast licenses.

“Surprise, surprise, surprise.”
— Gomer Pyle, 1962

A study paid viewers of the Fox News Network to watch CNN for 30 days. What they found is that the viewers ultimately became more skeptical and less likely to buy into fake news. The early impacts, after just three days, showed that the viewers were already starting to change.

Partisan media impacts voting behavior, yet what changes in viewers’ beliefs or attitudes may underlie these impacts is poorly understood. We recruited a sample of regular Fox News viewers using data on actual TV viewership from a media company, and incentivized them to watch CNN instead for a month using real-time viewership quizzes. Despite regular Fox viewers being largely strong partisans, we found manifold effects of changing the slant of their media diets on their factual beliefs, attitudes, perceptions of issues’ importance, and overall political views. We show that these effects stem in part from a bias we call partisan coverage filtering, wherein partisan outlets selectively report information, leading viewers to learn a biased set of facts. Consistent with this, treated participants concluded that Fox concealed negative information about President Trump. Partisan media does not only present its side an electoral advantage—it may present a challenge for democratic accountability.

I really hope it is true that Biden sees Murdoch and Fox as the cancer that it is.

And that was CNN…an organization most of us have found fault with. This type of thing should have been dealt with long ago.
