Biden Pledges To Create Bipartisan Commission To Study ‘Reform’ In Court System

Amazing. Disgusting.

Apparently you don’t know how politics works. But do tell us of your successful campaigns for elected office that were strictly the result of pounding your shoe on the lectern with a list of ideological demands.

You can “float” any damned thing you want before the election. Look at what he says here and the cabinet idea – he hasn’t committed to anything. And even if he creates a bipartisan commission, he’s not honor-bound to do what they say. They aren’t taking the base for suckers – they are taking the base for understanding the political moment.

The same people who pore over tea leaves about OMG BIDEN IS VETTING SO-AND-SO FOR SUCH-AND-SUCH ACCORDING TO ANONYMOUS SOURCES who didn’t learn a single dang thing from the silly bullshit about the VP process. Do they not have anything better to do?

Yeah he wins two “responsible” citizens and looses thousands of the fired up base.

Idiotic move. After 35 years I give up on the Dems.

I totally agree. Someone needs to start the process of ending this inane divisiveness. Part of that is de-Trumpification of the GOP. Split the sane Republicans (however few there are) off from the Trumpians.

Well, this means…nothing.

Sorry, but I disagree. It means everything if it is done properly. Biden has taken a bipartisan approach throughout his career and has publicly preached it over the past 10 years. It can work. It also marginalizes the extreme right (and left as well). It does not necessarily mean that Republicans will have a loud voice in the solution (which is perhaps what many are afraid of), but they should have a say. We need to recognize and solve the structural issues that have allowed the minority Republican Party to remain in control from the judicial system, to voting rights, to gerrymandering, to censes counting to address health care, education, infrastructure, etc… issues that we face. Biden’s approach is the proper way to proceed. We don’t trust it because we have seen what has happened in the past 50 years, but we need to move on. Stay smart, stay focused, stay vigilant, but give leadership a chance. We need to make this last.

While this is going on, I hope we do have a Truth Commission, and publicly present and investigate what our current leaders have done in terms of corrupt actions. Afterwards, then and only then, should we consider how to respond. But first, let the facts come out so we can see the corruption and acts agains this country for personal gain.

Joe, if you check the record you will see that the rethugs have already turned the courts into a political football.

It’s the refutation to the lie that Biden intends to pack the court. It’s a shame he can’t just respond with, ‘you mean, like it’s being packed now? What’s the story with shoving through a nominee with days left before the election? What happened to letting the voters decide, as was done to Obama?’

I’d prefer my response, but I’ll take this one.

Don’t let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya.

Apparently, what we’ve had for the last 3+ years is good by you, so you just keep on truckin’.

@timorwig beat me to it.

Think he knows that.

What’s the story with shoving through a nominee with days left before the election? What happened to letting the voters decide, as was done to Obama?

He knows that wouldn’t play. It gives them something to argue against, deny, validate – as in the McConnell rule only applies when the Senate and President are not the same party.

This is brilliant politics. There’s no way to argue against it.

Good move. Now of course, there’s going to need to be some corrective action to make up for past political footballing.

I’m honestly quite amused at the idea that anybody, anybody at all, really gives a solid shit about this answer. Fyodor from Novosimbirsk can attempt to posture, but I find it unconvincing.

“It’s messy and we’ll try to figure it out”, wow, very controversy, such base rejection
