President-elect Joe Biden has formulated a strategy to get his Cabinet picks confirmed by a GOP-controlled Senate that threatens to potentially torpedo his candidates a la Obama Supreme Court Justice nominee Merrick Garland.
You know we only have to find 2 or so Republicans to break ranks. I think that should be possible for someone with as much skill in the Senate as Biden.
This is a good move. Gives Collins, Murkowski, and Romney the opportunity to do the right thing, but doesn’t let them drag out the process and then yank the football. Either they deal right away or Biden gets to work with acting secretaries.
Her sympathizers suggest she is somehow bound to act as she is. It’s a lie. The law gives her the power to make this determination. She hasn’t failed to act; she has affirmatively acted, accepting the mad-emperor-pleasing fiction that Biden was not “apparently successful.”
Hence forth every death, from Jan 1st, 2021 should have her name listed as a factor in the cause of death line on the death certificates. There’s that old fashioned saying “you’ll rue the day…” well let the ruing commence.
I think it is a very good sign that the Biden admin is willing to break some established norms in order to achieve some semblance of control over a potentially McConnell led Senate.
I fully expect Collins to spend what will certainly be her last term being as big an asshole toward Democrats as Lieberman became when Democrats refused to support him over the actual Democratic nominee. Worse, really, because she doesn’t caucus with them.
This has an easy fix. Just allow the truthers into the ICU - without PPE. Let them, shall we say, breath the air of covid reality. And then send them back to their bunkers to hold meetings with their fellow truthers.
