President Joe Biden has tested negative for COVID-19 after five full days of treatment for the virus, White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor reported on Wednesday.
I swear when they showed him tripping over his bike that time, he looked great, with strong legs, like an in-shape fifty-something. He looks like a healthy mature man, not a rapidly aging potato.
He is ahead of me by at least a day. I got my first Covid symptoms Friday, and confirmed it on Sunday. But he’s also gotten Paxlovid, and I am on vacation in Ireland and couldn’t get access to it… but my symptoms were pretty mild and I’m just a little bit congested now. So happy I had the vaccine & boosters!
Excellent news! However, I thought you needed two negative tests a full 24 hours apart. Not to mention that rebound after finishing Paxlovid seems to be a thing. I hope Biden keeps testing.
What happened to him–the little clip on his shoe didn’t free up from where it snaps in to his pedal–happens to riders all the time, many of them younger than he is. I read about that, and I said, “I can relate.”
Never happen. I don’t think he’s done anything outdoors since he was 40. (To people who hike, or bike, or fish or whatever, golf is not outdoors as they understand it.) Some Democrat, Gore or Kerry or someone, wrecked on a bike once and got injured, and he swore this big pledge that you would never hear of him riding a bicycle and I’m pretty sure he kept that pledge.
Oh, bad timing for the vacation! My kid tested positive immediately after getting home from his very last shift on his old job, and there goes the week before he starts his new one. He just moved so it’s not the end of the world for him to have to stay home and unpack his stuff.
On my old road bike I have the kind that are attached to the pedal, and I never had a problem but you do have to keep your wits about you when you’re mounting and dismounting and be sure to bring your foot out smoothly and be ready to support yourself. I imagine his mind momentarily drifted to some pressing affair of state and whoopsie, down he went.
Stephen Colbert was a very public example of the “Paxlovid rebound.” He had Covid, was treated with Paxlovid, and tested clear. He returned to work, but a few days later he tested positive again and had to suspend his show a second time as he recovered.
