I need to break in here with a bit of sad news from the farm.
As many of you know, our cleft palate goat, Aerie, was up for surgery at Cornell last week to repair the cleft. She was sent home with some minimal health issues, prior to trying the surgery. Unfortunately, as is often the case with cleft palate, Aerie got aspiration pneumonia last weekend. With even the best of care, I am devastated to report that Aerie passed away from the infection this afternoon.
The Mia Foundation is crushed with her passing. Aerie was much loved by Sue, the owner who fought to save Aerie’s life. My daughter, who birthed Aerie six months ago, is also devastated.
She is gone, to run happily in the after. RIP.
