I love my president! Dignified, stately, friendly, with a Ukrainian-themed tie. In Kiev. This is a big deal.
Apropos of nothing, the photographer sure loves that St. Michael’s Cathedral.
If it causes those traitorous MAGATs to go bonkers then this trip is a success many times over.
The “Old Guy” (seen the Jeff Bridges series? ‘that’ Old Guy comes thru.) made his statement with his life.
EmptyG lost her mind. Again.
DeathSantis is taking Russia’s side. That will work out well.
In the third photo, Zelenskyy and Biden are standing on some kind of a plaque that says “Joe Biden.” What’s that about?
Poking “the bear” a little here. Demonstrates that, bluster aside, Putin just can’t afford to do anything to provoke war with the USA and NATO.
Every world leader who visits Kyiv gets a plaque. Zelensky is a master at PR.
Vladimir Putin must be kicking himself that he didn’t invade Ukraine when he owned the US President.
Sides are drawn, starkly. A visit of great (symbolic) significance and reassurance for the world. It’s clear that a lot of material and training and financial support has already been provided and continues to be provided, and it is also clear why much of that has been done quietly and carefully in a way that doesn’t unnecessarily escalates. Let nobody say the visit is only symbolic and that what they need is somwthing else. The Republican responses will clearly show how worried they are that it’s real and important.
What photog wouldn’t? Especially with the sky and light just so.
I am quite certain that I could convince more than zero MTG voters that the whole thing is fake and photoshopped. And probably make money off it from those same voters.
I wonder if she was as outraged when a Republican delegation of senators and one congresswoman spent July 4 in Russia back in 2018.
I recall reading somewhere, though I can’t put my finger on it just now, that the timing was deliberate. He figured that the previous guy was such a hopeless dunce that he couldn’t even find Ukraine on a map, while Biden was a knowledgeable and experienced foreign policy hand who would be able to intelligently conduct the status negotiations after Russia’s inevitable and quick victory in Kyiv.
Sadly for him, the Ukrainians failed to cooperate.
Well, that trip took courage and a good deal of careful planning–right down to the blue and gold tie. What beautiful, inspiring images!
Upset at being left out, maybe. Or would have been, if she’d even been in the picture back then.
Sez Sporkfoot…
She went on to express exasperation that Zelensky “can’t even wear a tie as he greets the President of the United States,”
The funny part is that is that we are supposed to be the elitists that look down at regular people. And BTW, last weekend I took a short and revealing trip to a town in Red America where they absolutely love MTG and there all men seemed to be dressed like Zelenskyy, the only difference is that the pants are camouflaged and the bellies way bigger.
A simple gesture. Sublime.
