Everything that I have heard that Trump is planning fails the emotional development criteria.

The only thing that wouldn’t fail would be to sit there like a sane person and let the ritual play out, accepting that he’s actually not the center of it. And you know that won’t happen.

Trump will hold a competing superspreader rally* and brag about the numbers. Biden really has no choice but to lead by example.
They should have Rotunda swearing in, distanced witnesses, no balls or galas or any of that. 1 p.m. everyone goes to their respective new assignment with photo ops of them rolling up their sleeves.
Especially at Defense. Acting Secretary of Defense needs to go take the building, get the keys, and escort the Trump minions just appointed to the door. At 1:01 p.m. January 20.
*Reports say Trump is considering never returning to the WH after the holidays in Florida. That way he’s not ever seen leaving for good, robbing the entire world of the celebration such pictures would cause.

I would love to see a roll call of the heads of boards of elections from all around the country. Those are the people who did their jobs.
And even so, the Biden / Harris virtual inauguration will still have a far bigger crowd than Fat Nixon’s coronation ever did.

Trump will finally get his wish to have more people having attended his inauguration.
That is a really cool idea. Many (myself included) don’t even think about that.
On one hand: God I hope so. The place needs a deep COVID fumigation and this would give us time to do so.
On the other hand: I really want him to suffer that humiliation (because for him this actual norm of democracy is humiliating)
