A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo.
Biden won’t be going through with his shocking plan to nominate Chad Meredith, an anti-abortion Federalist Society Republican, to a federal judgeship in Kentucky, the White House announced on Friday – but not because the president finally realized the nomination was a terrible idea.
This is a pretty serious diatribe of all the things that are going wrong, these days.
I wish I could say this would get people out to the polls to change things, but I’m not convinced yet that the blue wave that is so needed will actually happen.
Pardon me, but what the hell was Biden thinking? Thought he’d just extend a warm greeting to one of the most abhorrent in congress.
I’m not sure Biden’s been tracking on all cylinders here lately.
Screw McConnell and the Saudis and heading on foreign trips that usually don’t happen to the third year. Biden needs to be in the US and working, pushing on all issues important to Dems, keeping things upfront.
The flip side of this supposed congeniality is that the Senator wouldn’t be an obnoxious, rightist dick. Don’t put forth the most ridiculous, partisan, extreme-team player the state could dredge up. Someone who most likely has some undiscovered, corrupt, alignment of interests with the Senator and his secret dealings.
3 Left Dead After Gunman Opens Fire In Indiana Mall
A gunman killed three people and injured two others after shooting up a food court at a mall in Greenwood, Indiana on Sunday, local authorities reported.
The suspect was fatally shot by an armed bystander, according to the police.
A private citizen steps forward and stops a mass shooting in progress. Meanwhile, 400 cops and border patrol agents can’t bring one to a halt in Uvalde.
Dems have got to gain functional majorities in Congress to address climate change and guns laws. If I were a parent living outside the U.S. with a child considering a study abroad program, I couldn’t recommend the U.S. as a safe location. I am a pretty peaceful person, but I have had my share of verbal arguments. I wonder how they would turn out now, of if they would have simply ended at the shouting stage?
At ‘Housewives of QAnon’ - otherwise known as ‘Freedom Fest,’ woman today was asked her favorite part: “Rand Paul going after Fauci.” They learned about “all the experiments he is funding with all these dogs, you know, getting their heads eaten off with worms.” pic.twitter.com/mm0MimbHQf

Those 400 cops looked at an active shooter with an AR-15 and said, ‘Nope. I’ve got my retirement to worry about’. I suppose the bystander didn’t make that calculation. As much as I would like to condemn the law enforcement officers involved, I can’t say with 100% certaintly that I would be prepared to rush into a hail of semi-automatic gunfire.
I’d just like to note, for the record, that while the Senate Minority Leader is not nearly as egregious about it as some other members of his party, he is extremely parsimonious with the truth. I mean, his lies are more subtle than some, but they’re still lies.
