Biden: ‘Disappointed’ In Graham | Talking Points Memo

Former Vice President Joe Biden lamented that his friendship with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has changed during the Trump administration during an interview on “Meet The Press” Sunday morning.

Just wait until the full extent of the kompromat and Lindsey’s treason comes out. Biden will be glad they grew apart.

I can’t figure out if Biden is an eternal optimist, gullible or just an idiot.

Yes.

Lamenting the decline of his friendship with a man who is the primary facilitator of a corrupt president doing lasting harm to this republic does not seem worthy of Biden’s time. Or ours.

“Biden then added that he’s ‘not surprised’ by Graham not acting on Trump’s attacks against McCain…”

Lindsey Graham is the Waylon Smithers of Eddie Haskells.

So the relationship went from “That’s what friends are for” to “Smiling Faces Sometimes”.

“He was honorable. He was decent.” In addition to the crappy policies he advocates, and his very strange habit of yelling weird insults at people who are trying to decide whether to vote for him or not, Biden reveals himself here to be a poor judge of character.

This is has been one of the biggest knocks against Biden, his puppy-dog like willingness to please R senators. You’d think he’d learned that they don’t give a damn after the Hill hearings but as late as 2013 Joe was offering his help to Lindsay on an election campaign.

@tiowally I’m landing on all three.

In a show of bipartisanship Biden said he thinks Graham has learned a “pretty big lesson” from his unwavering Trump idolatry.

I actually give Biden a little credit here — he’s implicitly saying Lindsey has become an immoral Trump toady without actually saying it. It’s a back-handed insult masquerading as concern and sympathy.

Well, it’s probably in Biden’s nature to be forgiving, at least to want to appear to be the bigger man. It’s a version of the ‘kill him with kindness’ posture and stands in stark contrast to the revenge and retribution president occupying the Whitehouse currently.

In addition, every successful president in the last 20 years has run on some version of being a “uniter”. Trump promised “deals” between the two parties which was, supposedly, his version of working across the aisle.

Smithers is in love with Mr. Burns though, right? Graham is just a ball-warmer. His toadyism makes Smithers look like an UPRIGHT person.

Plus you have better uses for your time than to keep trying.

I can’t prove it scientifically, but I believe the Dems want a fighter.
Someone said can’t run a boutique campaign with Walmart voter.

Lindsay Graham has not been honorable or decent at any point in the 22 years or so that I have been aware of his existence. Sycophantic, hypocritical, disingenuous, warmongering pond scum is more like it. If you’re lamenting your long-lost friendship with such a person, it’s a clear mark against your moral judgment.

But I guess it’s not too surprising given that Joe stupidly supported Bush’s dumbass Iraq war too.

We’ve all lost friends and family members to the cult of Trump. You just gotta move on.

That’s a valuable perspective. I think we’d be better served though, if Democrats were less generous with their diplomacy and more willing to cut through the b.s.

I think Joe Biden has known Lindsay Graham for 25yr and THIS is not the guy who was his friend. So was he ‘never’ his friend and he just was bamboozled for those years or has something happened to change Lindsay.

For ‘us’ this is all part of a continuum or something like that. BUT I totally believe Biden and Graham ‘were’ friends and it HURTS when something like this happens.

I think Lindsay is like the military officers who DID NOT RESIGN when Trump intervened in the Gallagher and other war criminals’ cases. They tell themselves they are stopping ‘worse’ things from happening.

And if the price of ‘stopping’ these things is a 25yr friendship, well Lindsay can tell himself he is ‘saving the country’ from ‘worse’ stuff by keeping his ‘viability’ with Trump.

No, Lindsay, you are not making it into heaven based on your behavior.
