2020 Democratic candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden released a statement on Friday morning denying Tara Reade’s allegations that he sexually assaulted her in the early 1990s.
Guess we’ve landed on our nebulous, impossible to prove or disprove, eternally recurring story for this election?
When the first investigation fails to declare Biden a wanton rapist, will that satisfy? Or will we see articles every day full of wild speculation until the day after the election?
I know where I’d put my money…
I’m guessing Ms. Reade is going to become a regular on Fox News…

Allegation appears to be full of holes.
However, even if it did pass the scrutiny test (which it doesn’t), it’s a mistake to punish Dems while Trump sits in the WH. No more double standards.
His tone is good so far on MSNBC. “I’m not going to question her motives.”
Since he has fought for women’s rights, It has a swift boat feel to it.

I’d like to see him say something like: “I have addressed this false allegation once and for all and will take no further questions on the topic. It has taken enough oxygen out of the room.”

While their writers will surely mourn the loss of headlines like “Why is Joe silent!!!11!!” , I look forward to hearing all about what Joe Just Doesn’t Get.

To Mika’s line of questioning about the University of Delaware papers: It would be weird if Tara Reade’s name just popped up in the official papers among that of world leaders and others in documentation filed there. Maybe there’s a list headed “Women I Leered At While In Office”?

That’s the Minnesota roasted whole bean coffee I prefer and it should also be the way Joe and his campaign handle Tara’s allegations.

This is standard Trump. Make serious accusations with NO evidence which he has done multiple times. When it has been disproved, no apologies or retraction. It’s also standard Republican strategy and often projection. Her story is not credible but it has been heard and will be pushed anyway. Would be nice if Bernie had a conversation with her, because that seems to be the most likely motive.
So I want to address allegations by a former staffer that I engaged in misconduct 27 years ago.
They aren’t true. This never happened.
While the details of these allegations of sexual harassment and sexual assault are complicated, two things are not complicated. One is that women deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, and when they step forward they should be heard, not silenced. The second is that their stories should be subject to appropriate inquiry and scrutiny.
I like about all of it except the part in bold. And as well written as it is, I can’t believe that was mistakenly put in or poorly worded. Here’s my gut feeling, don’t read if you believe she totally making it up.
I’m thinking something happened, but it was mutual and she only started making claims when he wouldn’t drop his wife and start something with her. Kind of like a fatal attraction episode with less violence. Granted I hope I’m completely fucking wrong and she just has other mental issues, which she seems to have outside of this. The whole Putin spiel etc., what the hell was that?

Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C., investigators are no longer looking into Tara Reade’s sexual assault complaint against Joe Biden, a spokesman for the agency told the Washington Examiner .
“This is an inactive case, and there are no additional details to provide,” a police spokesman said Wednesday, providing no further comment.
This is in reference to any accusation. The points made were 1) it should be heard with respect and, 2) it should be subject to inquiry and scrutiny.
Politically, that Mika interview went well for Biden both tonally and substantively. It will free up the many Dem women to be able to defend Biden and, more importantly, pivot every question on this topic to why Trump hasn’t been vetted for 20 sexual assaults including 2 rapes. Dems should play offense on this if the media want to talk about these types of issues.
The obvious thing here staring everyone in the face is the timing and the escalation in getting the story out regarding her accusation as well as the changing story she’s providing. Biden has been running for a year now, was VP for 8 years, was a private citizen for 3+ years, and 7 months before a national election… this shit. Not buying it. It has the whiff of a political smear campaign written all over it. But believe what you want. That’s what those running against Biden are hoping for in a way…that a percentage of people will consider this a reason to disqualify Biden from the race. No fucking way. Not when we have a bona fide pervert and predator in the White House who hasn’t paid a fucking price for any of his malfeasance and criminal behavior.
Hopefully that’s all. Granted what I suggested wouldn’t be illegal, just immoral to some folks, and is what I’m hoping it is at worst. And compaired to what Trump has done and does every day, is nothing!
I hope you’re right, but Democratic women are not immune to the purity tests that the entire party seems to use. When the media make a deal out of this, I’m not sure why there’s no pushback on the documented similar cases against Trump. Somehow, the voters are turned off by Biden’s ‘indiscretion’, but have no problem with Trump’s.
This is worse than the double standard we normally see. Seriously worse. And it could still be effective.
