Biden Compares Trump To Nazi Propaganda Minister: ‘He’s Sort Of Like Goebbels’ | Talking Points Memo

Goebbels?? Really??
Knock it off, Joe. Tell the geniuses at the DNC to stuff it with this kind of stupid advice.
Concentrate solely on the failed promises and policies: the fact that there will be 250,000 dead from the virus by Nov 3rd, the fact that millions are still out of work, the fact that he is packing the Court with Leo & McCahn’s best right-wing lick-spittles, the fact that he has been attempting to give away millions of acres of public land to well-connected friends and cronies, the fact that he has been running a shell game with emoluments since day one, the fact that four of his last five campaign managers have been criminally indicted and several convicted, the fact that the AG is functioning as an adjunct of his re-election campaign…Do we really need to go on?

That is the only way the Italians were finally able to get rid of Berlusconi after three terms – concentrate on the policies, skewer the failed promises, but ignore the man. Let him stew in his own juices.

Also while you’re at it – get with the Latino vote for godsake, starting with the I-4 corridor in Florida. Thousands of displaced Puerto Ricans from the hurricane – in and around Orlando 400,000 and climbing.

Here’s a good quote to take home to Perez and the DNC brain trust, from the Tampa Bay Times:

“If it were a state, I-4 would be the size of Virginia. Winning Tampa Bay alone is akin to winning Arizona.”

…when asked by MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle about Trump’s assertion that Biden is pushing a socialist agenda…

See? The “Trump Effect” in action! Why the fuck is a somewhat able reporter asking and parroting Trump’s brain dead assertion? To give it the old “both sides” college try and normalize all things Trump? Joe Biden should have tongue lashed her for this inane question and asked her if she conceivably thought he had a “socialist agenda”, or just refused to answer her backwash!

Biden should follow saying “He doesn’t know anything!” with “Daddy bought him his real estate and Putin bought him the White House!” Then see what happens!

Yeah that describes Trump exactly.

Ummmmm…Berlusconi had 4 governments (over 3 time periods) and he’s currently Italy’s Member of the European Parliament (elected in 2019)

Berlusconi’s still in power making messes with his Forza Italia party. He’s not gone by a long shot…

Biden has lost a half step since he owned Paul Ryan in 2012, but one-on-one he is deadly enough.

  1. Biden keeps demonstrating he knows how to get under Trump’s skin;
  2. Biden has skillfully refused to play Trump’s game.

With one sole exception, this election is nothing like '16 (or any other year, for that matter). The one sole exception: the media has learned nothing.

With respect to Goodwin’s law, how many steps are we from “Alleged ‘Holocaust’: The Actual Story”? We are about 1.5 steps from death squads.

Yes. We are.

I think that Rupert Murdoch better fits the comparison, as his crew at Fox is always hammering away with an avalanche of lies before Donald repeats them. But I’m glad Biden entered that arena.

As for the Hitler / Nazi comparisons, there is certainly a present threat. But the long term threat is that the people who voted for Trump (resentful, fearful, angry, mis-informed people who are eager for a vulnerable scapegoat), are the same profile as the people in Germany who voted for Hitler.

If we win the Senate and the Presidency in November, and McConnell and Barr and the utterly corrupted and compliant GOP don’t sabotage it … and we have to cross those thresholds first, we will need some form of a de-Nazification program to reach these hateful deluded cruel people who don’t give a damn about democracy.

Barr should be impeached. He has already used the DOJ to help Trump in this election with the Pennsylvania debacle. See below…

It was always about undermining the American Electorate.

Also the likelihood the conversation will end. For me, that was the most visible point for me. A different thing entirely when discussing actual fascists and Nazi admirers.

I never knew this story. It’s bone-chilling, but needs to be known. Thank you for posting it.

I didn’t know it either.

There was a wonderful (but frightening) film about Sophie Scholl produced here in Germany in 2005. It was shown at the Berlinale Film Festival. The actors were great and some of the scenes were filmed where they actually took place. It was actually nominated for an Academy Award for Foreign Language Film (made over $13M in the US) — I can highly recommend it, if you can find it (“Sophie Scholl — The Final Days”).

She’s an icon here in Germany. Sadly, less well known outside.

Thank you! I just checked, and it’s available on Amazon Prime. I think that I’ll watch it today!

Depressing as hell, but wonderfully filmed.

Actually… Boxer Joe was a total assumption on my part! I guess I was thrown by the poster I’ve seen of him as a boxer, and of course that Harry Reid was a boxer, and my desire to see Joe box trumpp’s ears, but I have NO information that Joe was actually a boxer! I’ll have to replay last night in my head but Natty light may have had something to do with my wish fulfillment/projection here.

It may be: Berlusconi is the gift that keeps on giving, giving without stint, and always with that lovely lupine smile. Like a good case of the clap.
He did go to jail, however, and then spent time doing community service in lieu of finishing out his sentence, picking up garbage with a work crew or some such. Can you feature that for Trump?

Even after a nasty visit in September with Covid-19, Berlusconi is still nominal head of Forza Italia although at this point the party is down to single digits in polls. A kingmaker at this point?

You’re right, though, he did indeed lead four governments. However he never accused the opposition of cheating, rigging or vote dumping and each time he lost left the office without throwing a tantrum. A veritable paragon of good sportsmanship.
