President Biden went further than he has publicly before in firmly aligning himself with the effort to unionize Amazon.
Migawd, he sounds like a … a … DEMOCRAT!
It’s past time for a recalibration in corporate/union relations. Things have become very one-sided since Reagan busted the ATC union back in the ‘80s. Unfortunately, this is another area where SCOTUS has its thumbs on the scale of justice.
Talk 'em down Emo!
“But you have to worry about the nutjob GQP base!”
“But you have to worry about the nutjob GQP base!”
“But you have to worry about the nutjob GQP base!”
Joe Biden doesn’t believe those GQP lies, and neither do I! From looks of it, Joe’s not afraid of Musk or Twitter, either.
I didn’t vote for Biden in the primary but I couldn’t be happier that he won and that he’s now our president. Great job, Joe!
I love this!
Well, there goes free shipping to the WH.
And good luck to him getting his Prime subscription to work.
One of the reasons I subscribe to TPM is because they are unionized. Good for you Joe!
Unions have the collective persona of the ground up, notwithstanding that, like all organization/types, there is hierarchy.
That’s important, especially in this era, because Trump, the GOP and all the $$$$$$$$ folks are thrilled to death with the near complete separation-into-two-tribes of people in the various socioeconomic classes below filthy rich (especially with respect to manufactured wedge issues)
I envision him walking resolutely toward the mic to say this, while desperate DNCers pursue with clipboards of focus-group data and pleas that he steer toward the nonexistent middle.
Unless I am missing something this is not going to help all those ‘so called’ independent contractors that work for Amazon… In fact it will likely lead to an increase in these contractors.
Finally a news item I can read and get behind.
I take it you saw the John Oliver piece on Sunday night about the trucking industry.
Unfortunately, no one can make big business hire directs. Contractors are the way to go and I’ve been a contractor for most of my 27 years in the consulting business. I make a good bit more than the average independent contractor, but they treat me just as badly.
The marketplace is going to contractors anyway, but I just have to wonder if this hastens the path.
Oh, and here’s where universal health care gains a better foothold and traction. The country can’t survive on employment-based health insurance if no one is hired by employers directly.

As if the higher ups at places like Amazon and Starbucks aren’t bloody rich enough. What happened to making things a tiny bit more equal. Starbucks fought like hell to prevent the first one from being unionized. Not a Starbucks fan although I lived in Seattle when there was a total of one. Try to avoid Amazon that has taken over the online world for just about everything.
I used to ask myself why rich people always want more when they cannot spend all they have…and have come to the conclusion nearly everyone else has:
Money=power
And in the upper levels of $$$$$$$$$$, ordinary people are as ants.
Oh, please. Bezos can’t even get a dick rocket that makes it all the way into Space.
His yacht is a mere 500-feet long.
He must be completely embarrassed with that short yacht knowing how far ahead the Russians are with theirs. Maybe one of theirs will come up for sale and then he can be a big guy again.
Sure know I would be in his boat shoes.
And then you would want to steal precious dollars from him just so the labor force that produces his wealth can feed their children.
Shame on you.
