Surrender? Designed to bring the tweets, and I’m totally ok with that…

This? This is the takeaway headline from Biden’s first presser in ages? I watched it live and think Biden’s accusing Trump of “dereliction of duty” a bigger story.

I demand that TPM cover Joe Biden using precisely the words I would have preferred.

it seems like our wartime president has surrendered, waved the white flag and left the battlefield

Trump absolutely is a wartime president. Just like Jefferson Davis.

when it’s debate time Biden should and be ready to crush him into submission.
Stay cool and smooth while trump rants, insults and rages and blows it big time for all to witness the little kid inside a fat mans body crying out for love.

I thought it was quite a good speech. He didn’t pull any punches and he wasn’t over the top.

I thought Biden sounded great. He came off as calm, informed, articulate and empathetic. It was the opposite of Trump’s chaos.

Indeed. Better than the primaries even. But he wasn’t my first choice then - he is now

Snarky, but it isn’t about my “preference”. It’s about missing the obvious.

Well, there are 40K new infections day, at some point Covid-19 has to run out of virulence, just like guns run out of ammunition. There only 2.6 million cases of 328 million, is not like we are running out of healthy people, Covid can’t infect them all…

“Donald Trump is in retreat,” the Democratic presidential nominee said, recalling how Trump once branded himself a “wartime president” and appealed to Americans to sacrifice together in the face of a shared enemy.

This is a great way to frame it. Trump chose the “wartime” language himself, because he loves to associate himself with military stuff … makes him feel powerful (one of his favorite words), I suppose.

But he’s a weak, ineffectual coward. A wimp if there ever was one.

“Now it’s almost July, and it seems like our wartime president has surrendered, waved the white flag and left the battlefield,” Biden said.

vs.

You’re nitpicking.

And he did a good job handling questions from the press

When he first announced he was running, I was not happy, mostly because I figured he’d get chewed up and spat out and I thought it would be a sad end to his career. But now, seeing where we are, and seeing the contrast to IMPOTUS, I think he’s in many ways perhaps the best candidate in this moment.
