Biden Apologizes For Calling Clinton Impeachment A ‘Partisan Lynching’

“Trump chose his words deliberately. I, on the other hand . . .” Umm, what? You’re saying that it was ok for you to use the word because you weren’t really giving any thought to the words that were coming out of you mouth? That’s a pretty weak defense, Joe.

I’m a tired old white man every day these days!

Yawn.

This is reaching ridiculous levels. The word lynch does NOT automatically imply a derogative reference to Blacks. The practice of lynching, as done in America, was the epitome of racism but use of the word is not. Rape is a serious crime. It’s victims are almost all women but if you use the word rape you aren’t condoning the crime. “That developer has raped landscape after landscape out of greed” is not demeaning of women. Nor is the way Biden used the word lynch demeaning of Blacks. It does not minimize the significance of the word when speaking of the crime of lynching Blacks either.

This pearl clutching is not going to help the plight of American Blacks. It’s an affectation put forth to wash white skin and give it a phony concerned glow. Want to help Blacks? Use lynch all you want but hire an African American. Support Black culture and fight for equal opportunity in education, employment and the enjoyment of life. Replacing the word lynch with a socially acceptable alternative isn’t going to do shit for Black Americans.

What an epiphany! Perhaps “politically correct” does have a meaning.

No, it wouldnt, and it’s another example of Trump and the GOP providing the far left with talking points for their quest to divide the party/liberal movement. They know they’re seeding very fertile and willing land.

If this was on your list of items to discuss, you’re missing the entire point…and while you busy yourselves with bullshit like this, normal people around the country watch your dance of the picayune and associate with the other Dem candidates on whose behalf you’re dancing. They dont like it and consider it missing the many forests for the ferns.

Oh…I missed where you got elected the Speaker of all the normal people in the country. :smirk:

Cute. I’m just voicing my understanding of the situation based on what I observe. I never claimed otherwise.

Warren makes inroads with people outside the base with her policy proposals and her explanations resonating with them. You undermine it by distracting them and making them wonder just how distracted you and your candidates are by this petty crap.

It seems as if ol’ Joe’s been doing that a lot since his coronation began.

I’d prefer a candidate who doesn’t have to apologize for her past.

Dude…I don’t HAVE a candidate.

And…you’re kind of all over the place. I never mentioned Warren here. This is a thread about Biden. And him defending one of his comments. Again.

I think what he’s doing is acquiescing to the demand he defend what merits no defense. If Democrats don’t purge the bullshit dumped on their politics by GOP’er concern trolls, Russian bots and their own silly ranks they’ll never go anywhere. All Biden had to say when “lynch” came up was “what does your argument, that lynching Blacks was horrible, have to do with what I said”. Biden wasn’t saying lynching was A OK but here come the Lefty pearl clutchers and goody two shoes to fuck everything up and imply it… Biden used a word in an acceptable and well understood use of it. He did not condone lynching or minimize the horror of the practice. But you’re right. If he doesn’t get over this silliness and just ignore it he’s going to suffer it.

What’s wrong with the word lynch?

Anybody else getting tired of Biden’s apology tour? These are self-inflicted errors and there is no room for error when the threat of a second Trump term is on the horizon.

He just hit an all time high in the polls.

Yes it was and the that term “lynching” was used extensively at the time to make that point. No one bitched because there was no phony angle to exploit by bitching. We went 20 years and no one gave a shit. Then, when the concern could be used as a weapon it’s now the end of the world. The mere use of the word implies you condone it’s most severe meaning. " that pizza was to die for"…Ohhh Think of all the dead people! “That pizza kicked ass”…Ohhh all that violence! JHFC!

So edgy.

STOP APOLOGIZING!!! When you are apologizing, you are LOSING.

GOD I’m pissed that ALL the Democratic Candidates continue to wallow in mea culpas for Republican-identified “past sins” that, at the time, were nothing of the sort.

Democrat: “I’m sorry for everything I ever did in my entire lifetime that may upset someone today (gets down on his/her knees) Please, please, please PC Twitterverse; FORGIVE ME!”

Republican: “That’s right. I did it. So what?”

Talk about bringing a nail file to a gun fight.

Show some backbone. Take responsibility for your prior actions. If you stand for nothing but Apologizing for not being sufficiently PC 40+ years ago, you are fucked in the General Election.

Cowards.

Biden was right to apologize, acknowledge mistake and move on.

Trump on the other hand doubles down, it will be his undoing.

Only those with no oeuvre can have a gaffe free history.
