Colorful selections, Mr. President. Well Played.

Excerpts from CNN:

Tuesday’s move will come as a welcome development for progressives eager to regain ground lost after former President Donald Trump placed more than 200 appointees] in the courts, including three Supreme Court justices.

As things stand, there are currently 72 vacancies, according to the Administrative Office of the US courts and 28 future vacancies where judges have noted an intent to retire on a future date.

All good candidates.

More needed.

Man, that’s a long list. It’s going to take someone all day to issue that many death threats.

Hey, I’m just waiting for Clarence Thomas to drop off so we can decrement and increment this list.

From the Washington Post: “The nominees come from diverse personal and professional backgrounds, including former public defenders, former prosecutors, sitting judges and attorneys at large law firms,”
I think there’s a breadth and width of legal experience here far beyond the narrow confines of a Federalist society list.

A Democratic President can’t get a hearing on a SCOTUS nomination in the last four years of his first term. Keep up, man, sheesh!

Have any of Biden’s prospective nominees been endorsed by the Federalist Society, ACLJ or ADF? What happened to his pledge of bipartisanship? This looks like more radical left wing overreach, trying to convert the Federal judiciary into some socialistic liberty and justice for all thing.

Good for President Biden. It will take a long time to clean the Trump-McConnell stink off the Federal judiciary.

Or in the first four years.

Candidates chosen for their ability not their partisanship. What a concept for judges!

Well done.

About those diverse professional backgrounds:

Nominating prosecutors, I’d limit myself to lawyers.

Nominating people for Supreme Court positions, I would not limit myself in that way.

For lower positions on the federal bench? I’d think carefully about what criteria to use.

Tall order!

Does one have to be a so-called progressive to approve of quality judicial nominees? Please stop using that label for every intelligent pick and piece of legislation.

Well, thanks for listing the names, TPM, but you left out the important parts: their racial background, sexual identity, and sexual preferences. Bad TPM! Un-woke!!

Or a liberal. The so-called conservative wing has flown the coop, as far as quality, intelligence, ability, and reason are concerned. (We ought to be missing it.)

Elections have consequences. Remember that one?

This is a good list; but, begs the question…has Joe Manchin approved the list?
