Biden Amplifies CDC’s Warnings Of An ‘Impending Doom’ As States Ease COVID Restrictions | Talking Points Memo

I see that, as well as NJ and RI. Is it the kids? Or folks going to Florida ? I am praying for NY to get it’s act together.

I just created a discussion group for anyone who wants to comment on the trial in Minneapolis. I invite your participation.

Young folk think they’re bullet proof. This image is 7 day old…

Shoulder to shoulder and not many masks… IDIOTS playing Russian roulette with a fully loaded pistol.

her experience… being the last person by their side before their death in describing the “impending doom” she feels as some states ease public health measures such as mask mandates

Quite a job.

It’s so odd that Republican Senators don’t seem to care.

How to continue feeling superior to Americans while watching them get the vaccine months before you

‘ There is a gold mine of pro-Canada porn on youtube and facebook that describes our country as the liberal haven America only wishes it could be. In these videos we don’t have institutional racism in our policeforces like THEY do, we have cops breakdancing! We don’t have corrupt, inept or horrible politicians, we have sexy 2015 era Justin Trudeau! These videos are perfect for deluding you about your own country, and they will help take up the hours and hours you will be stuck at home with nothing to watch.’

President Biden on Monday echoed CDC Director Rochelle Walensky’s recurring sense of an “impending doom” as he urged governors and mayors to maintain or reinstate mask-wearing mandates amid a 10% increase of COVID-19 infections over the past week compared to the previous week.

They’re correct. From the NYT tracker:

Sadly, it looks like we are in for one (fourth?) last wave before vaccinations immunity kicks in.

That’s a really good analogy. Stealing this one.

I predicted a surge when Gov Abbott decided to be an idiot. It’s as though he wants people to be ill and die and his states economy in the crapper

Canada is not perfect. No country is. But having been fortunate to live there for a few years, they get a lot right that we have lost in the states. Citizens are much more civil on the whole. And the parliaments, both provincial and federal, despite having their share of flakes, manage to address issues of societal interest. There is also a fundamental belief that government should function for the benefit of its citizens. Quite the novel concept, eh?

The difference in day-to-day life is tangible, and I miss that feeling horribly sometimes, never more so than during the shit-show that was the Trump administration.

They have every right to celebrate their relative functionality, which doesn’t mean they won’t have missteps on occasion.

That woman and Jeffrey Epstein. A major nightmare horror show, among so many, but damn, this is some creepy shit, man.

Rachael Maddow said just now on her show that the vaccine prevents infection completely. No, NOT TRUE. In many cases being infected after getting the vaccine means the disease symptoms you have are far less and you quite likely will survive where if not vaccinated you might die or be seriously ill. Getting vaccinated does not mean immunity every damn time. Sometimes yes it does but the hard data isn’t in yet. Nevertheless getting vaccinated is the best damn thing any of us can do beyond the usual masks and distancing we all know and love.

New study came out today. Appears the vaccines stop the disease, not just the symptoms. Still early, but signs pointing in the right direction.

Josh posted about it earlier. Promising findings.

They’re killing their base while animating Dem voters and pushing swing voters our way. It’s like a hat trick of stupid.

If it were legally possible, I’d suggest that California make a hostile bid to take over Texas. Yes, do mess with Texas. Please.

We could all be at the whims of variants if they evolve far enough to defeat vaccines, and the longer there is a playground for covid to operate in, that risk will continue. We need everyone, or some semblance of everyone, vaccinated.

The GOP as a whole tends to not think beyond the 48 hours news cycle. That they’re premature in their loosening of voter restrictions because they can’t hold themselves just a little longer is sadly not surprising at all. Lets hope the blue and purple states don’t get sloppy because it’s up to us to hold this country together for the rest of them.

Texas is red. I think the advantage of the quality of local government [in this respect, anyway] in some of our cities is keeping Abbott from killing us all.
