Biden Admin Seizing Land In Continuation Of Trump’s Border Wall Construction Efforts

Consider it stolen.

Yes I understand that it is a complicated issue. That living along the border has its own unique challenges.
My point about property taxes was that I had never even considered that aspect before.

Thank you. It seems that the headline is more suggestive than the facts.

You may be thinking of the hundred-day moratorium on deportations that Biden tried to implement. Texas complained that it (1) was unconstitutional and (2) violated an agreement between itself and the Feds (meaning Trump) – and a judge then decided that the moratorium could not be put in place.

No, I didn’t mean to suggest Trump won in the RGV, but if you compare results from 2020 to 2016, the margin of victory for various Democrats was much smaller.

As an example, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez won handily in 2018 against his Republican opponent by 59.7 to 38.8%. In 2020, he won 50.5 to 47.6%. Far to close for comfort and a trend we can’t allow to continue.

I’d expect some inertia and think it’s best as you say to watch. It’s only been a few months. Get an agency spox to comment and check back at month six. Seems a little premature to go straight to “Biden said”.

I understand. I liked your post and it spurred my thoughts to make the point I hopefully made, though tangential to your point. Thanks!

Not to folks who heard what he said in August but are now, after a judge’s ruling, even more afraid they’ll have to give up their homes and their land.

In response to Biden Admin Seizing Land In Continuation Of Trump’s Border Wall Construction Efforts, Cornyn and Cruz applaud the move to bipartisanship and announce their support of the American Jobs Plan.

You’re assuming that the American legal system makes sense. But it’s a rabbit hole. On purpose.
As Humpty Dumpty said “words mean exactly what I say they mean”. Throw in a little Latin to keep the riff raff out and you can overcharge to your hearts content.
I managed product liability litigation for a few years. I’ve tried to withdraw litigation and been told “no”. It’s crazy out there in legal LA LA Land.

So a Republican judge is just trying to smear Biden? I think this qualifies as “intuitively obvious to the casual observer”.

THey will demogague it no matter what. Short of Biden out there with a gun himself.

Worse than that, all the DOJ lawyers are reported to be wearing tan suits.

I am pretty sure that the powers of the presidency do not include a magic wand.

And … ?

True enough. But they also tried to demagogue the ACA with their death panels without it gaining much traction with the general public, so a skillful approach can make a difference. And in many swing districts/states, small margins can make a significant difference.

ok, so just what do you suggest the US goverment do to stop illegal entry? unless you live in a border state, where illlegal entry is an issue, you probably have no idea how this affects the people who live there. how many children do you want to house& support, in whatever facilities are available??? personally, i think a barrier is a good idea…we can’t even cross into CANADA without papers.there are restrictions on immigration everywhere in the world.IMO; these mass immigrations from down south are well organized…who is doing this and who is paying for it?

He can’t wave it and make everything all better instantly. Doesn’t mean he won’t tell someone to correct the problem now that it has hopefully been pointed out to him.

You know, I was just saying that a minute ago.

“Self,” said I, “The American legal system makes sense.”

And then I found myself laughing uncontrollably – but maybe it was for some other reason.

I think you should build a wall, and don’t forget to make Mexico pay for it.
