However much we worry about what the fat felon does to the military, he is at the very least a useful idiot for one or more authoritarian leaders around the world.
Regarding the NY County and NY State cases - he’s guilty in the criminal case and nothing can change that, and he lost the civil case as well; there’s no reason he shouldn’t pay up. Those items may be the only satisfaction we get until he keels over.

Echt Trump that he likes Hitler because “his generals,” many of whom tried repeatedly to kill Hitler over a period of years, were “loyal” to him.
If Trump succeeds in corrupting the military, so that it’s organized around “loyalty” to him instead of loyalty to the constitution, it will not be much of a surprise if some of them try to kill him.

This is exactly the same as letting him avoid consequences for his crimes … again. Others who committed the same crimes in New York go to jail all the time. Indeed, these crimes are known as “bread and butter” cases to New York City prosecutors. It’s past time to quit making exceptions for a career criminal.

I am still betting that the Republican Senators approve all (exception of 1) of Donald Trump’s nominees for his administration, Matt Gaetz not withstanding.
The simple analysis follows 1) all a Republican Senator wants is power which to them exists if and only if they retain their Senate seat 2) Donald Trump will politically dox the fact that particular Senators have opposed him and 3) there are enough Republican voters that will side with Donald Trump that it means the end of their political career and 4) no Senator opposing Donald Trump will receive support from any other Republican Senator, either in private much less publicly.
Of course, all that is terrible. The only good part is that clown shows do not usually do not make good entertainment when people have their faces eaten as part of the show. May be for a few that will be a visceral wake up call.
