I think they should do a simple safe ceremony now, and then a massive July 4th reenactment when people who have been vaccinated can come and experience the celebration together. It would serve the dual purpose of doing a bigger July 4th celebration than Trump could ever have managed-a final eff-U to the toxic Trumps and all they have stood for.

My prediction is that Trump will not be at the White House on Jan 20th to receive Biden…he won’t host Biden before that either. It’s very likely Trump goes to Mar-a-Lago for the Christmas holiday and stays there instead of returning on Jan 4th to work (like the rest of us). If he comes back, it will be perfunctory, as he’ll spend most the time whining about his loss and making life hell for anyone who is still there. The rats will abandon ship after Congress doesn’t manage to block Biden’s presidency, and Trump will be embittered and alone, except for the swarms of true believers out there. If he’s at the White House in January, I figure he’ll leave for some rally around the 17th and never go back…his ego just won’t allow him to greet Biden or give him any legitimacy or the usual accord.
He’s a tiny man, and it would be better if history forgot him quickly…Republicans will be stuck with him because of his moves to control the party, but the rest of us should ignore him after the 20th.

To whoever regularly screws up TPM headlines:
“Besides” means ‘in addition to’, so you can’t say " Besides Oath Of Office, Nearly All Of Biden Inauguration Will Be Different" because the president’s oath is specified in the Constitution and can’t be altered. What you have written implies that the oath will be different along with almost everything else. Instead of “besides” you want to say “except for” or “apart from”. Everything else may be different, but the oath will be the same.

Does he still get a budget for a full inaugural however? We could use that money out here in the hinterlands if he’s not using it for anything or if Turtlebrain won’t dole out anymore cash for those in dire need. Remember, tRump raised gobs of money for his inaugural that still hasn’t been accounted for.
P.S. Can we still have fireworks? I really want more of those, like the 4th of July, only bigger.
P.S.S. And if tRump insists on showing up to spoil things, he can be made to ride in a clowncar with his stool pigeons and throw candy into the street. Someone can teach him how to create balloon animals between now and then.

Biden’s transition team is urging all Americans to stay at home, refrain from travel and to limit gatherings during the inauguration.
During his first 3 months Biden should boast continuously about how small his inauguration crowd was.

Plus most legislators will be home until after New Years. To come back for less than 3 weeks…what’s the point? He can do evil from anywhere. I don’t think he’ll come back to DC either.
