Sen. Max Baucus (D-MT) said Thursday that he opposes the background check compromise put forward by Sens. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Pat Toomey (R-PA) but that he believes the bill warrants debate and will not oppose a motion to bring it to the floor of the Senate for debate, the Associated Press reported.
