They are squat, stationary and seemingly innocuous. But ever since the high drama of the 2020 presidential election, humble drop boxes have been more than a…

Republicans are not honest participants in majority rule democracy and they will not temper their radical agenda to gain the popularity to convince the majority to vote them in so they cheat and lie and brainwash, it’s all they have, it’s what they do, it is who they are.

So Republicans want to make it harder to vote in Republican parts of the state?

I’m not sure we should be terribly upset at them shooting themselves in the foot, politically.

It’s not like they have a product that most people will buy into.

No drop box for me
I take my mail-in ballot, properly filled out, to my County Recorder’s office myself. It’s too important to trust the post office or a drop box.

“Arguing about a box is dumb.”

Yep - welcome to the GQP.

Hubby and I are going to the town hall a week from Tuesday for early voting. He cannot guarantee his one-hour commute will get him back here on time on Election Day (he gets home after 7 on a good day). CT closes polls at 8p.

Mayor Diny is a Republican. So no charges will be filed, much less pressed. However, this is yet more depressing news out of Wisconsin. I grew up in Wausau. It used to be nice. And, if I recall, Democratic.

On the other hand, do people not understand that every absentee ballot is carefully examined?

  • It comes in an envelope which has identifying information as to who the voter is. This is checked against the rolls to make sure the would-be voter is on them, and hasn’t already voted.
  • The ballot is specific to that voter’s precinct, and thus, the several districts they’re in. There are many selections on each ballot. You can’t just run off a thousand identical ballots, mark “Trump” and think that’s going to fly.
  • And to emphasize, you can’t just dump a pile of ballots without the identifying outer and inner envelopes and think they’ll be counted.

There is so much credulousness and ignorance on the maga-republican side that the country really needs a series of Civics courses for everybody (and their dog). Sadly, the ignorant side also doesn’t believe in “eddicashun.”

You might just as well just go ahead and vote at an early vote center. That way, you also don’t need to worry whether you’ve filled out all the little gotchas and jumped through the fine print hoops on the “absentee” packet.

I really can’t believe how out-of-hand silly this has all become. Just because one giant orange sore loser is a frickin’ giant orange sore loser, the country must accommodate his gigantic ego driven tantrums.

In Kenosha, 4th largest city, the clerk has declined to discuss why she won’t place a drop box. Someone floated a rumor that the mayor refused to allow it, but that was unfounded. Mine will be mailed in on Tuesday. I can’t hand deliver mine and even though it is permissible for my son to bring mine in with his due to my issues, he has to argue with someone every time. I believe the GQP stages people to hang out there and question voters.

Oy! Sorry to hear! I’m thoroughly vaxed but had a case in May anyway. But it wasn’t bad. And that’s because I had been vaxed,

What I like about mail in is I get to take my time and consider each candidate proposition or judge on the ballot. This rime the ballot is a monster one with a ton of votes to make. 14 propositions, a dozen judges and alla the candidates. Plus I do enjoy interacting with folk at the Recorder’s Office as I hand in my ballot.

The short answer to your first question is “no.” You are also completely correct that an educated voter is the GQP’s worst enemy.
