I am 99.9% certain that this was not in any way the impetus for this event but…it’ll be a good implied campaign ad for Biden. Even if not a single political thing is said, for many people (and rightly or wrongly) Biden = Return to Obama. Hearing him speak for a half hour or whatever will absolutely energize those people.
I hope, with all my heart, that Trump counter-schedules something here at the last minute, so we can spend the next week playing them speaking side by side. Calm, rational, hopeful educated adult contrasted with victimized, hateful, spiteful ignorant manbaby.

Maybe Trump will perform a counter-event with Fox. I’m thinking an event in the same wacky spirit of his bizarre rambling monologue in front of a national Boy Scouts gathering where he wandered on to side stories about old real estate moguls, paranoid musings on crowd size, and election victories.
My son, who is part of this graduating class (such as it is and has been these past two months), has a framed letter from President Obama that was a response to the letter six-year old N wrote to him congratulating him on being elected. I remember thinking how fortunate my children were to have eight of their very formative years with a real leader as President of the United States. Will be watching and trying not sob for so many reasons.

Of course, the Orange Cowardly Monster will attempt to counter- program with a sadly concocted event that no one wants, and despite irrefutable evidence to the contrary he will falsely claim that his ratings were huge, more than Obama’s. Even more people than the attendance at his inauguration.
I for one am confident that Obama’s speech will be memorable and inspiring to many in the Class of 2020 and many, many others.
