It would be nice if the justice system could put him away, but I have to wonder how much of what he’s accused of will be wiped out with the revelation of his pardon from TFG.

And while we’re in the neighborhood:

The puppies have been given names: Java, Chai, Venti, Maxwell and Beans (the last two are the males). Sadly, we lost one of the pups overnight, Latte. She drank a little too much and aspirated. Tighter controls on feeding in place going forward.

Bannon:

phoney charges

It’s wire fraud, if you do it over the phone.

Good thing the charges are real, though, and not phony.

Can you be tried for one crime when you’re in jail for another?

If I knew how, and weren’t terminally lazy, I would start a “We Build the Cell” fund. Proceeds used to build a private prison to hold repubs convicted of any and all crimes requiring incarceration. And, imo, all crimes committed by professional fascists would require incarceration.

Indict Bannon. Convict Bannon. Fumigate Bannon!

Wasn’t he pardoned for this crime? He will raise a double jeopardy defense, and may win.

Too bad money laundering is apparently the only kind Steve Bannon knows how to do :face_vomiting:

The federal pardon power has zero effect on things that are also state crimes.

It sucks being a fucking criminal. Eat shit, Stevie Three Shirts.

ETA: Note how long this took. Bannon was indicted by the feds two years ago, and it took nearly that long again for the state authorities to bag him on what sounds like the very same crime. Unless you’re the guy with the gun in your hand robbing the convenience store, conspiracy crimes take a long time to unwind.

Bannon has never been nearly as smart as he thinks he is. I hope they don’t do a deal but instead let him get comfortable in a cell for near future.

Poor Steve! Somebody should have explained to him the (very) simple fact that accepting a pardon means you are guilty and de facto admit to it. And that Federal jurisdiction is different from any state’s. Maybe he can offer some juicy Trump-info and get only 5 years.

Bannon defrauded people out of money that was purportedly going to wall construction, but instead saw a large chunk of it diverted into his pockets.

I’d like to see Bannon tried and convicted. But I cry no tears for the MAGA idiots that were his victims. Personally if there was some way all these people were bled dry of all their life savings and tangible
assets and left in penury I’d be OK with it.

It carries only an implication of guilt, and only in that it negates any further attempts to set aside the charges/verdict/judgment. The state court judge isn’t likely to allow any testimony or give any instructions about the effect of the pardon. It isn’t a guilty plea.

Steve Bannon will immediately be appealing to U.S. District Court Judge Aileen Cannon

Who will issue a stay …
and provide a 24 slide PowerPoint on how to prepare the next documents for submission to her court

We know what that drama queen is gonna do. He’s gonna make a spectacle out of this including the demand that Amnesty International declare him to be a political prisoner.

She’ll issue a 22 page finding that Trump’s pardon extends to NY courts. Because trying Bannon would be highly sensitive and do great reputational harm to him, what with him being Trump’s friend.

from successive tweets:

He has been ordered to file a redacted copy of his response to the ethics charges, and won’t be allowed to keep so many details sealed.

the new filings also show that Clark apparently tried to delay/stall the DC Bar’s probe into his conduct while at DOJ. (He denies this). He also confirms in his filings what others reported - that the DOJ OIG executed the search warrant and has NOT RETURNED his devices yet
