Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon is ripping into former Sen. David Perdue (R-GA), who is challenging Trump punching bag Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) in the battleground state’s governor’s race next year. Bannon apparently thinks Perdue somehow doesn’t deserve the former president’s endorsement.
I don’t care if it makes the Olympics, but right now the internal feuding is a joy to watch. I only hope it continues to splinter and fracture the GQP into family feuds – with circular firing squads. And covid-infested cheerleaders on the sidelines, superspreading unto death.
It’s very odd to me that Bannon would criticize the Trump-endorsed Perdue. Logically, and I realize that logic is not a strong suit on the far right, this criticism implies that Trump made a mistake. Also Bannon is violating the first law of election politics, namely you can’t beat someone with no one.
“There’s no difference between Kemp and Perdue,” Bannon said. “This is the classic kind of country club, blue blazer, khaki pants and loafers that are part of the globalist movement that is the problem with the Republican Party.”
Bannon isn’t wrong, entirely, here: both have been stalwart Business boosting GA GOPers.
Both are on a policy level plutocratic empty suits.
Arguably Kemp shows a bit more backbone, having had the…gumption? chutzpah? to steal the Governors office with a bevy of procedural and formal barriers to Dem voters.
Deciding to not give into attempts to get him and Raffensperger to steal the election by selling out the election measures he had championed and gotten through a GOP supermajority lege isn’t exactly brave.
“There’s no difference between Kemp and Perdue,” Bannon said. “This is the classic kind of country club, blue blazer, khaki pants and loafers that are part of the globalist movement that is the problem with the Republican Party.”
Clearly, we know which sartorial side Bannon has chosen.
