Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said on Monday morning that he anticipates that healthy Americans will be able to begin receiving the COVID-19 vaccine by the end of February to early March.
Just like “anybody who wants a test gets a test”
But speaking more to the substance, do we actually have any efficacy numbers for the Johnson and Johnson vaccine? That’s supposed to be a single dose vaccine so it should be extremely helpful.
Also, the Astrazeneca/Oxford vaccine, has a fairly low efficacy (70%?) and there were a lot of basic mistakes made in their trials. Will they even be approved without a new trial? And if I go in, will I be able to choose which vaccine I get?
Good thing they didn’t reject any offers from manufacturers for additional does of the vaccine. Oh, wait.
The admin seems to “think” that every dose of vaccine manufactured will go straight to US consumers, and that there will be plenty to go around. It probably would have been preferable if they had actually created a plan instead of a wish list.

Informal poll, will you get the vaccine and how soon after you’re eligible to get it will you do so? I’ll get it, assuming it’s effective and no horrible and permanent side effects (which should be known by the time I’m eligible, being under 65, in good health and not in one of the early eligibility categories), as soon as I’m eligible, which I’m guessing won’t be till spring.
Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said on Monday morning that he anticipates that healthy Americans will be able to begin receiving the COVID-19 vaccine by the end of February to early March.
“I think we could be seeing that by late February going into March,” Azar said…
So, there are going to be healthy Americans around to take the vaccine in March?
First I hear that the general population will get vaccines in March. Then the news circulates that vaccine access will be May or June. The most recent assessment is that 30 million people will be vaccinated by January 1. These goalposts have sprouted legs and are dancing the Cha-Cha.
Not sure how we are supposed to take this. It’s from the Trump admin, so it is never taken at face value. I guess just disbelieve it until Biden is in?
So, first recipient in general vaccine immunization rollout just got it, a nurse at LI Jewish Hospital in Lake Success, NY. I used to live less than a mile away and have been to its excellent ER more than once.
