I thought it was Jared Kushner. Pence, of course, ‘wanted’ the job, but Jared wanted to keep Christie out of the government because Christie ‘perp walked’ and then indicted and then convicted Jared’s daddy for witness tampering.
A little forced, but it works.

Kushner hates Christie for prosecuting his dad, but this was Manafort’s doing. Kushner, I think, was involved in shutting Christie out from becoming AG. Here’s one of Josh’s old posts.

I’m a little disappointed with TPM here (a rare feeling), although it’s still better than the Post and the NYT. Some of that international criticism, which led to Joe Biden’s Ukraine mission, had specifically to do with Shokin’s failure to investigate corruption in Burisma, where Hunter Biden worked. As is so often the case, Trumpworld is projecting the crime it’s committing onto the perfectly normal and ethical behavior of its political enemies. TPM usually gets the critical details just right. Here I think it slipped.

Of course, it could also be that they are just being ignored. I read that Spankee produced 800+ tweets in Sept of which only a couple of dozen appeared in the news. Seems to me Crime Family Trump is slowly but surely moving into the “yawn” column.
Except, of course, when they are tweeting about their crimes…

That’s because she has not only the attributes of a social-climbing skank but also the useful “smarts” of a grifter. She fits right in.
(Some years ago (2003) she was the keynote speaker at our all-girls’ school, her alma mater, on “career day.” It was clear she hadn’t prepared anything - she just rambled on about herself. She had married Gavin Newsom (a close friend of a Getty scion) by then, and he was running for mayor (SF). Some students asked good questions about his stance on several local issues, which she could not answer, though she tried to sound informed.
(Later, my junior-level classes “debriefed” their career day experiences; one recurring set of remarks was about the “fakiness” and shallowness of Ms. Newsom.)
