The whole “all votes have to be tallied by midnight on election day is a crock.” In some states they’re already not allowed to start counting absentee and early voting ballots until the polls open. Then they’re going to mandate that all ballots be hand counted-probably, and counting must end before midnight.
It seems like they’re afraid of a Blue Wave, but I bet they have more nefarious tricks up their sleeves.

Thomas has been quite clear, for quite some time, that he plans to break William O. Douglas’s record just to stick it to the people who opposed his elevation.
As of today (Feb. 19, 2026), Thomas has served 34 years and 119 days, according to Wikipedia. William O. Douglas served for 36 years and 209 days. He will achieve that on May 19, 2028; he could be counting on serving until the summer of Trump’s last year in office.

Let’s have some truth in bill-naming. The next Republican voter suppression bill should be called, if not by them, then by us:
MR WET: Make Republicans Win Every Time.
And get some serious acronym whizzes working with the Democratic caucuses in Congress to give their bills catchy acronymic titles. Also, no more precious “Amelia’s Law” or whatever. Have the title indicate the topic, not the victim.

I’m inclined to agree simply because Thomas and Alito both have intense cases of Fox News Grandpa, and there’s nothing that sort loves more than clinging on if it means they can cause more misery.

NPR this evening quoted him spouting some of his gibberish. Something about handsome young men? They need to keep it up and then some. NPR and PBS are now unbound: no federal assistance anymore.
Okay, a late night correction by me, having read the Daily Beast story. Our First Felon, Twice Impeached, was apparently introducing his Gang of Thieves and Syncophants, aka the “Board of Peace.” When he got to the President of Paraguay, Santiago Peña (which he pronounced “Penna”), he apparently felt compelled him to comment on President Peña’s good looks, which he disapproved of, and leered nastily that he preferred young women. I should have checked my reference before commenting.

Trump doesn’t know the processes, and probably doesn’t understand that even within a state the how on voting can be different.
I still can’t decided if this is just some schtick with him, or he truly believes that he is the expert on methods and processes.

Dmytro legally entered the U.S. in late 2023 along with his 38-year-old wife and their daughter, who is now 5. The family was sponsored by U.S. citizens as part of the Uniting for Ukraine program, established in April 2022 to allow Ukrainians fleeing russia’s war to live and work in the U.S. on humanitarian parole.
Once the initial two-year parole period expires, participants can apply for re-parole to remain in the country longer. That’s exactly what Dmytro did. His wife’s and daughter’s applications were approved, but his remains pending.
He said he was putting groceries into his car when he was approached by three ICE agents:
“I explained to the ICE officers that the war was killing people, that my wife had a disability, that we had escaped violence and terrorism. But one of them began to laugh. I asked why he was laughing, and I was told that he was pro-Russian and wanted Russia to win the war.”
Dmytro cannot understand why he has been treated like a criminal. He did everything by the book, paid taxes, submitted his immigration paperwork on time, and worked multiple jobs to take care of his family. He has no criminal record.
Yet ICE arrested him, and now he faces deportation to a war-torn country.

Well, damn, good news! I am pleased to share my free advice with the good justices: Hang in there, Mister Justice Uncle Tom. You should be able to make it for at least for another full year – if you and Gini take it easy. As for you, Mister Justice Sam-I-Am-A-Sham, if you don’t stay the course, the Pope will start twisting things toward peace, love and understanding, not to mention fairness and justice. You don’t want that, Justice Sam.
