A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo. Sign up for the email version. It’s Happening Already The most chilling moment of the election night carnage came a little before 1 a.m. ET. It wasn’t yet confirmed that Donald Trump would win, but the writing was on the wall.…

My final word on the fat felon: fuck him and all of his supporters and apologists, first and foremost American news media, secondly the voters, who apparently prefer a proudly ignorant, mendacious grifter to a woman of color.

What sickens me is in 2026 the 250th birthday of the United States will be all about Trump.

No cats, but how about a dick pic? Leinenkugel is an iconic Wisconsin beer brand, around since the 1850s. Owned and/or operated by the Leinenkugal family throughout. The current family member is Richard.

At a “Leinie family reunion” for friends and fans, he was autographing items. Be careful how you title those pics, folks.

I figured we could all use a smile. Or a beer. Or both.

I’m at the point where I’m going to sit back for a while and watch the leopards eat their faces. I’m done trying to have any compassion for people who wouldn’t piss on me if I were on fire.

From what I am reading Trump supporters prefer real men versus all other choices. That includes Biden. They see him as an old and feeble.

Today is going to be worse than yesterday. And yesterday was awful.

Right there with you. The MAGATs told us who they were, and how much they hated everybody not like them, and when they feel the pain of TFG’s policies, it’s on them. It’s the people who told themselves, “well I don’t like the racism/misogyny/anti-LBGT etc. but I want economic relief,” that really grate my cheese. Choosing to vote for him on economic grounds still makes you a racist/misogynist/homophobe.

I woke up around 4 a.m. – or my cat woke me up, as he is wont to do – and ended up playing a bunch of future scenarios in my mind: economic crash, using nukes (after all, tcf wondered what’s the point of having them if we don’t use them?), private prison companies booking record profits. It was wearying and pointless. The future will bring what the future will bring, and it will be unpleasant.

I do wonder how pliant Congress will be. (Very, is my guess.) I have a book, “The '80s: A Look Back,” which was a parody of all those instant-history books that used to be released. (It came out in 1979 and had some great satirists do the writing – Christopher Cerf, Tony Hendra, Bruce McCall, Ellis Weiner, among others.) It actually got a couple things right, notably the oil glut of 1986.

One of its conceits is that, after some scandals, Congress adopted such a strict ethics code that only crazy people ran for office. It turns out we didn’t an ethics code at all, and STILL crazy people ran for office – and won. And now they have a president whose boots they can’t wait to lick.

Look on the bright side. At least those of us who have been following TPM know what’s coming. It won’t be a shock. We can be ready for this.

It’s going to be a shock to the voters who just decided they wanted a man cosplaying as authoritarian leader instead of a competent woman for President.

I refuse to be a participant in the dismantling of the administrative state. So to all those MAGAts who moan about “over-regulation”, I hope you enjoyed your clean air, clean water, safe consumer goods, and cheap food. Because once the fat fuck gets into power, ALL OF THAT goes away. I’ll have ZERO sympathy for them when the hard times come.

This is kind of a small point to make, given the apparent asteroid crash results of the election, but a question for our resident experts. What happens to the railcar full of evidence Jack Smith has collected? Does it just get disappeared? Is there any way to keep it safe just in case we still have a vote in 2028?

Here’s Kevin Drum and his charts. This is what dumpster will say he accomplished.

He will write a report, and it will be released prior to inauguration. It won’t be pretty for DJT.

Mental health break:

Finland reaching out about your well being with a reminder that night swimming is “another way to be happy,” especially when things are metaphorically darker than a Nordic winter.

I haven’t asked our son if he’s coming back at the end of his Fulbright year.

I jerked awake this morning with the name Trump echoing in my head. I opened my news aggregator and saw the name Trump across at least 16 articles.
Listened to several podcasts discuss what we did wrong. Heard the same old excuses made for people voting for Trump. It is quite simple in my mind - no FOX, no Trump. My wife says there is only one thing to understand about the mind set of Trump voters, and that is the mantra, “You can’t tell ME what to do.”
I hear the background noises already about the millions he is planning to deport the second he gets into office. I consider this Trump’s version of the “final solution”.
Definitely time to focus on the things that bring me joy.
