The gun mask stunt he pulled was either the same day, or the day before, the first covid death in his district (and one of the first, if not first, in Florida). I happened to be in the area at the time, and it proved an interesting juxtaposition even in the local news. If it weren’t a blood red district, they’d have booted him to the curb already.
Ah, but that’s the point, isn’t it? It’s a blood-red district. They’re never, ever going to boot Matt Gaetz to the curb.

Yes, sadly I know that all too well. It’s where I grew up. The area was always conservative, but the batshit crazy with performative cruelty leading the way is a more recent phenomenon.
