Atlanta Mayor Slams Kemp’s Suit Against Mask Mandate: ‘He Is Putting Politics Over People’

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Bottoms (D) tore into Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) on Friday morning after he filed a lawsuit against her over Atlanta’s citywide executive order requiring everyone to wear masks.

Are all Republicans truly this stupid?

She’s exactly correct, of course. It’s too bad Kemp is doing this, but, on the other hand, it helps the good people of Georgia see what sort of (non)leader they’ve got in their statehouse.

As has been said, the virus doesn’t play politics, so why politicians would want to play with the virus shows just how disconnected they are from reality, and from what’s best for the citizenry.

Yes we will see him in court (and we won’t forget the street renditions of peaceful protestors either - if it’s happening in Portland, it’s definitely happening in DC and elsewhere).

Indubitably.

Yes!

Graffiti don’t you know. Get rid of HHS. Break it up! Unmarked Feds have been detaining and transporting demonstrators in Portland.

Wondering…Was Kemp promised something if he succeeded in bringing down Mayor Bottoms and hence deterring Biden from selecting her as his VP?

I’m just amazed the mayor managed to be civil, and resisted using the obvious phrase “vote-rigging, baby-orphaning, science-denying, potus-fellating, race-baiting putz.”

Right now about a thousand people a day die of COVID-19 in this country. This is insanity.

If so, he’s failed. because he’s just gotten her a whole lot more national attention and positive attention at that…

Remember when conservatives used to claim that that decisions should be made at the lowest possible level of government, closest to the people?

They are kidnapping people because of graffiti. Seriously, these are our federal dollars at work. All Wolf needs to do is quietly power wash the building. Seattle’s E. Precinct (in the CHOP) was power washed in less than a day.

What I mostly remember is their claims are never intellectually consistent. If they’re opposed to a top-down requirement, then yeah, local control is awesome. But if local control means municipalities act to save themselves in the face of state and federal inaction, then sure, let’s mandate inaction from the top, that’s awesome. They’re nihilists and believe in nothing. If Trump wants people to wear polka dots they’ll find reasons and ways to impose that. And if it’s stripes next month then stripes it is. Except it’s life and death. That’s where we are.

It’s not stupidity, they are doing it for fun out plain meanness. Sticking it to the gays, blacks and liberals that live in the cities is a more popular sport than football. One of the top priorities of the GOP dominated state legislatures wrest away the Hartfield-Jackson International Airport from the city of Atlanta into state control, they just cannot tolerate that the World busiest airport is controlled by those people…

I expect the Republicans will try to rebrand COVID-19 as “Freedom Coughing” in the very near future in order to justify their actions.
