Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms on Wednesday night recalled a “very good conversation” she had with Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) earlier in the day when they discussed a possible settlement of his lawsuit challenging the city’s mask mandate.
. Yup, she is giving kemp a way out of the quicksand he tossed himself in, as it is really needed for public health, and that end justifies helping kemp<out of a jam.
Plus, it raises her profile if she comes out on top.
Speaking of which, federal judge just ordered release of Micheal Cohen. Found feds trying to block his book was abuse of authority.
Kemp is doing about the worst job of any governor in handling this issue. Bottoms is handing him a lifeline in stopping the virus, so it’s no wonder that he decided to sue. I wouldn’t trust him to do the right thing in this case, he’ll figure out some way to continue hurting the people in his state, especially the black voters.
”For all those wondering, this is my son Nestor. We share no blood but he is my life. He came from Cuba (legally, of course) six years ago and lives with me in Florida. I am so proud of him and raising him has been the best, most rewarding thing I’ve done in my life.”
It’s not personal, Kemp hates all Black women that are not in a servile position, but he makes it up by hating all white women in positions of power too.
Bottoms’ latest remarks came hours after Kemp dismissed a remark Bottoms made on Sunday regarding the lawsuit in an interview with the Marietta Daily Journal. Bottoms told CBS on Sunday that the Georgia governor sued her and not mayors of other cities “perhaps because they were led by men, or perhaps because of the demographics in the city of Atlanta.”
Kemp responded to Bottoms’ assertion by telling MDJ that it’s “probably one of the most ridiculous statements that I’ve ever heard since I’ve been governor of Georgia.”
So, Governor, the correct response is to demonstrate precisely what other Georgia cities you’ve sued to prevent these mandates and then show us who those mayors or city leaders are.
If she’s wrong, because you’ve sued other cities in the State with male leaders, then she can withdraw the accusation, but you haven’t done that except to issue a pat denial that can be easily disproven.
True, but I question whether indulging in the tantrum will encourage future tantrums. In my view, better to put down your foot and draw a line that Mayor Bottoms won’t sacrifice the health of Atlanta for anyone.
Translation - Kemp caved because he knew he was going to lose both in the Georgia Court and the Court of Public Opinion. You don’t argue about the color of your raincoat when the house is on fire !!
I think it may be a reference to a statement I heard in Ken Burns’ Civil War series, lo those many years ago. If I recall correctly it was a comment of a former slave to his former owner.
