I think this is what they euphemistically call “'fleeing the premises.”

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. What was he asked to do?

You know, the Covid emergency is as likely as anything else. Hopefully everything‘s OK in this guy’s personal life. Being that he was appointed by Trump, I don’t think there’s reason to believe something nefarious by Trump is forcing him to leave. I know that’s not as sexy, but sometimes life is like that.

How can I not suppose that he was asked to indict GA SOS? Pure idle speculation based on everything I have seen and heard for the last 4 years.

OK, I have to admit… You might be right about that. I guess I hadn’t thought of that…

Basically you can’t ask me to do something unethical and criminal if I am not at my desk?

Because if you’re going to refuse such a request on principle, you also stick around to make them fire you instead of resigning to let someone else do the dirty work. You don’t just resign without explaining why.

If he contracted covid he would let that be known, if only to prevent these kinds of questions being asked. There’s no shame in contracting covid19, especially if you’re a republican.

Bingo.

Maybe it’s what he was asked Not to do.
Maybe pursue an investigation of Trump’s mafia-boss phone call to Georgia? Just a guess.

The DoJ attorneys who quit during the ham-handed redirections of the Flynn and Stone prosecutions gave no reason.

Would he be expected to be the point person for a federal investigation of his boss’s recent felony phone call?

He’s got less than two scaramuccis left in the job. He’s not starting any high profile investigations.

Covid would explain him quarantining, not departing two weeks early.

Canary in the coal mine here, not a coincidence that that phone call was Saturday and he’s gone two days later.

Somebody tried to get him to do something he wasn’t willing to do. Likely in a call after the earlier one to the State officials failed.

His way of weaseling out of the ethical obligation and legal responsibility to charge Rump for a number of crimes based on that one call alone. (My take on it, not based on anything I’ve read . . . yet.)
