“Let’s walk down Pennsylvania avenue,” President Donald Trump ended his speech to thousands of supporters in front of the White House Wednesday, repeating an earlier call on his voters to march to the Capitol Building and demonstrate against legislators certifying Joe Biden’s electoral college victory.
I would say surreal. But that has been used far too many times lately. Bizarre, same thing. I think I will go with “Now ain’t that a dilly of a thang?”
This is going to go on all day…we can hope that it doesn’t descend into real violence, that the protestors don’t pull out weapons and go after the police. Their intent appears to be to interrupt the Congressional proceedings, the same way things went in Michigan earlier this year.
This is also going to be the next few months, every “outrage” these assholes can come up with will turn into an event like this, on smaller scales…it’s going to be ugly times, with an unknown amount of violence on the table. Today is going to piss these people off immensely, because they are going to lose and become desperate.
Haven’t watched the videos, but why in the hell DC didn’t gather an impenetrable force of NatGuard, Homeland Security, local police, etc to prevent such shenanigans is puzzling. If any of these nuts actually get into legislative chambers heads will roll. Like this afternoon.
Well, between this and recent happenings, expect the Proud Trumpy Boys (incels for short) to throw away their greatest advantage - the tacit endorsement of the various police departments around the country.
The United States Capitol Police, according to their website, has 2,300 officers and civilian employees. And yes, that does include a SWAT team. If we manage to get through today sticking only with rubber bullets, I will count ourselves fortunate.
