It’s one of the few areas where the President has nearly unchecked power.
President Trump issued a raft of pardons this week, but news out of London on Wednesday raises questions about whether the tool has been a bargaining chip since the early months of Trump’s presidency.
“Rohrabacher did not return a request for comment from TPM. The White House denied the allegation in a statement, saying that Trump “barely knows Dana Rohrabacher other than he’s an ex-congressman.”
I think I have seen that defense before, must be something to it.
Rohrabacher was an old Cold warrior and Russia skeptic going back to the 70’s. What made him turn? Most likely love for Putin’s ethno nationalism and alleged Christian values. The money couldn’t have hurt as well.
Of course, president* tRump, who tells us how exceptionally smart he is, becomes clueless as to who he knows and who he meets. Since he spends so little time in the Oval Office, it cannot be that hard to recall a meeting with pos Rohrabacher about Russia, Wikileaks, etc., around the same time as firing Comey & bragging to the Russian FM & Ambassador.
It seems to me that things are getting worse. Bizarre revelations are arriving faster than anyone can process them. Everything and nothing is outrageous. I take this as a sign that Trump is swirling down the drain, and that we, the plumbing, are struggling to enlarge ourselves to accommodate the flow. Republicans have taken a bye. The DOJ has lost its bearings. We have to lance the boil, but we’re afraid of being buried like Pompeii with the pustular fallout. Trump needs to be defied and pushed over the brink of madness. If Roger Stone gets a stiff sentence and Trump reacts in the predictable way and Barr resigns, that might do it.
Trump had Rohrabacher over to the Oval Office for a meeting in April 2017. Trump reportedly asked for the meeting after seeing Rohrabacher talk Trump/Russia on Fox. Meeting lasted 45 minutes, Priebus and Bannon were therehttps://t.co/xJrsXM52YQhttps://t.co/pfnvufkhrgpic.twitter.com/xX7L8wfpYd
Sigh. This does not quite fulfill my fondest hopes. First of all, if award-winning journalist Charles C. Johnson had actually said anything about this you’d know instantly nothing of the sort ever happened. That he was along for the ride already takes away about 85 percent of any credulity possible. I realize this is Putinesque doubt-sowing in progress. Let’s just vote the fucker out and figure there are reasons aplenty.
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has repeated his claim that the Russian government was not the source of hacked Democratic campaign emails his organization released before the US presidential election.
