As Numbers Tick Up, Pro-Impeachment Dems Close To Majority

With a few more House Democrats switching to team pro-impeachment this weekend, their ranks have swelled to 107 members — only 11 short of the majority of the caucus.

OK, they are short of a majority of the caucus, but they are still far short of the 218 to have a majority of the House, necessary for any vote to initiate an investigation. Does this matter to them? And if so, how do they get around it?

Democratic House Members MUST do their jobs. It is really past time for them to begin hearings that will lead to the tRump impeachment and enforce subpoenas. The Democratic leadership is out of touch, and it’s time to get started.

If (or as soon as) Pelosi supports impeachment, there will be unanimous or near-unanimous support for it in the caucus.

Hopefully, she is starting to feel the heat to impeach this criminal racist Republican President.

This can only keep going up especially on recess if they’re having town halls. Dems will get the message. Congrats, my old Sen. Murray.

Yours is a no-win situation, @georgeh.

So long as there is no official impeachment inquiry, you must see that you are ignorant and not wise in the ways of the gods. Everyone who told you so has already been vindicated, many times over, as they themselves have been more than happy to observe.

But if an official inquiry does come, then it will be equally clear that it had nothing to do with pressure from mere mortals such as yourself. It was always going to happen any minute now.

Now, what’s that I hear about a near-majority of Democrats in the House having come over to your point of view? Who elected these hapless scolds and unicorn-chasers?

If Nance would just stop trying to finesse the situation…

Is there a localized database/calendar for where and when public meetings or town halls would be held? It would be great to organize some grass roots support for impeachment.

Imagine what the number of members that openly support impeachment would be if the Speaker and Majority leader haven’t been openly against impeachment…

Glad to see movement though…

That momentum…That’s something, ain’t it?

Poppy Bush called it “The Big MO”…

Social Scientists study it. And the ones handling the toddler named Trump have told him so.

Laurence Tribe claims that the Democrats in fact opened an impeachment inquiry last Friday, albeit quietly. https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2019/07/28/donald-trump-impeachment-inquiry-is-happening-right-now-column/1852090001/

Larry better be quiet… he’s going to get Jerry in trouble with Mom…

@matthew1961…I think that Tribe has also disclosed a way for Impeachment that can skirt a lot of the Dirty Deeds McConnell would have in store.

Someone should Google that…

A majority vote is not necessary to commence the investigation phase. It’s only needed to formally impeach.

Hey, media … please don’t make this about the horse race of numbers supporting impeachment and whether it’s politically smart or winnable.

Let’s keep the focus on the evidence of corruption, criminality, obstruction, and abuse of power.

ETA: … and what needs to be done to secure our elections, and how McConnell, Trump, and the Republicans are doing nothing to protect our country and everything to help the Russians and others.

Indeed, in fact it only takes one vote, from one specific person.

And TPM had an enraging (to me) article over the weekend claiming that the recess would put a damper on momentum toward Impeachment.

Quite the Opposite…

And when the Dem/POTUS/debating candidates grok that this is entirely necessary, it will be really hard to stop “The Big MO”…

Wrong, the only numbers this is about is the next 4 years and the gravy train that Trump is for the media.

This is their focus.

Great Point…although their (e.g. horseracers) particular hustle demands it.

There was a Denzel film in which he played Hurricane Carter. At some point, he said, “one has to transcend”.

In Carter’s case, it was the NJ corrupt legal machine.

In our case it is the permanent BothSiderist, WhatAbout-ist HorseRace. We are going to have to transcend those pathways of communication we call the MSM (and what I call the Fourth Estate, which is the best in the world and can be used for our purposes, if we adjust to the 21st Century)

Long LONG LONG LONG ago, the Dems should have hired a Press Consultant for messaging to counteract what Ailes, the GOP and FOX brought forth
