As Lockdowns Ease, Some Countries Report New Infection Peaks

There is so much to be admired and READ in your post that it is an embarrassment of riches.

I’ll just say this:

Krugman hinted at this in an interview with O’Donnell a week or two back…and that is that without Trump and the GOP riding the resentment and bitterness of the American Dissatisfied into our nation’s ruin, what we face would be daunting but eminently doable…and UNITING for Americans (who are incredibly productive when they get aroused).

Mais si, mon vieux.

The Gallup poll (49% approval) is an outlier, sure, but it’s a solid poll consistent with other polls showing a slight uptick. More broadly, Trump is up 4 points from January. The point being: Democrats are vulnerable on economic messaging. That is the key issue–the one issue that could pull Trump out of the fire. Dems should be tackling and blocking that now.

Again, if you jump from pollster to pollster, you’re cherrypicking your results and outliers will swing your perception of what you’re seeing. Pick a reputable source and watch the trendlines.

In this case, I did see a few reports of a small uptick. As we say in Australia - “Big woop”. The trend line is not in any way, shape or form up, so relax for now and focus on the sheer idiocy and incompetence - that should be enough.

Donnie is Not Rising In The Polls. Donnie is hurting on all fronts and is lashing out in anger and denial. Don’t feed his paid trolls (looking at you, Biden accusers), don’t give way to despair, don’t think that this is in any way normal or acceptable. We will defeat this menace, as we’ve defeated so many others, but it’s going to take some effort, and some discipline, so please folks - join in and tell these drongos that we won’t buy what they are selling. As used car salesmen on an empty lot, that’s all they got.

To quote that famous liberal thinker:

"Just - Say - No… "

If you had just said many voters, I would not have called you out, but “most” is risible. Here in the Trans-Pecos, the people have been way ahead of our idiot governor. Protests make lots of noise, but I still see masks, social distancing, and support of locals for the adaptations made by local business. So where the fuck do you get most?

On a related note, Gallup, once the leading pollsters in the land, are no longer the gold, silver, or bronze standard. 538 and the RCP averages are now the place to start.

(1) trashing Trump for his economic incompetence (something they haven’t done)

What planet are you referring to? The hell you say.

FROM ANOTHER THREAD…Trump’s special talent is inducing enough despair from otherwise courageous and thoughtful people (like Democratic voters, who are the sort who overthink):

[“Here is the moment”, Churchill told the British people in a broadcast on February 15 (1942), “to display the calm and poise, combined with grim determination, which not so long ago brought us out of the very jaws of death.” The “only real danger”, Churchill warned, would be “a weakening in our purpose and therefore in our unity–that is the mortal crime.”

Whoever was guilty of such a crime, or of bringing it about in others “it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck and he were cast out into the sea”.]

I reject Trump’s tricks and truffles, I believe that most Americans will as well…especially when taken with the inept and fraudulent actions he calls “governing”.

It`s fake news. The bike is glued to the pavement and the guy is just standing on the peddles. So now the inclusion of a required image in every article is likely to be not only out of date and meaningless but also labeled with the ridiculously obvious.

Let’s hope we won’t see more, but we’ve had our first shooting over masks. Security guard at a Dollar General in Flint, Michigan shot in the head and killed by a customer he confronted for not having a mask. Sick, sick people we’re dealing with.

Bullshit.

Oh FFS! People like that customer make me want to resort to corporal punishment!

No, it really isn’t. No other polls are “showing a slight uptick.” You’ve already been shown, repeatedly, above that your assertions are wrong. It is long past time for you to do 30 seconds of research on this at 538 or RCP.

More broadly, Trump is up 4 points from January.

And, again, no, he isn’t. He’s basically where he was in January and where he’s been all along.

The point being: Democrats are vulnerable on economic messaging.

You’ve provided absolutely no data at all to indicate that this is the case. When the economy goes sour, the public invariably blames the man in charge, the person in the White House. Republicans are vulnerable; Democrats are not.

That is the key issue–the one issue that could pull Trump out of the fire. Dems should be tackling and blocking that now.

And they are. Your ignorance of their plans, both at the federal and state level, are really not our problem. You really need to stop posting, as you’re just embarrassing yourself now.

Not only are the militiaboys in places like Michigan and right-wing republicans spreading this thing and vehemently denying the blood on their hands of more Americans than those who died in the Vietnam war but retailers in South Carolina are reporting most customers won’t even go into their stores.
