As COVID Surged Across U.S., Trump Admitted To ‘Playing It Down’ | Talking Points Memo

Totally agree but I am just saying how if i were going to try and frame this that is what they will be doing.

It may not move the needle very much, but it may induce many Trump supporters to stay home or vote third party.

Honestly, he should take a pardon now and resign. The only thing waiting in the political afterlife for him are trials and prison.
If there is justice in America this statement couldn’t be more true.

Ouch!
My brother once picked up an older lady at a bar and they jumped in her van out in the parking lot - think 1980’s full-size custom van, mural paint job, flared wheel wells. Anyway, once inside and getting started he realized they weren’t alone. She tells him don’t worry, that’s her husband. He likes to watch. I asked, “what’d you do”?
My brother says he finished what he started - and hoped he’d put on a good show!
Now, years later, none other than Jerry Falwell Jr. brings back that memory.

Might even have been able to scrape together a dash of that creeping authoritarianism that makes his little mushroom feel so good. Nope, too fucking lazy to do anything, ever.

It is, to say the least, not a good news cycle for him. 55 days. Tick tock.

Trump is in a position of authority and power to have actually done SOMETHING about the virus in February. If he thought it was a dangerous, communicable disease and did NOTHING, then he should be tried for manslaughter.

I couldn’t tell when they were playing it and I’d rather ere on the side of less inflammatory, unless I know for sure.

Thanks!!!

How this looks to me:

“Why did you claim there was no fire and tell people to ignore all claims to the contrary?”

“I didn’t want to create a panic.”

“But all those poor people burnt up alive!”

“What’s your point?”

Negligent homicide.

That was my big fear back in the early spring: that he was going to use the risk of widespread disease to push more authoritarian measures in the guise of an emergency response to the pandemic. It never occurred to me then that he would basically do nothing.

Even if you took the no-panic idea on its own terms, the fact is he did essentially nothing, continued to minimize the disease at its height, punted to the states on any active measures to address it, oversaw a corrupt, essentially black-market trade in PPE, gave his drone of a VP and corrupt buffoon of a son-in-law control over far more than the CDC or Fauci, blamed Xi for months after Xi had warned him it was bad, encouraged reopening with little or no protections in place, dicked around with financial support for people, there’s just so much wrong here.

And the lily white folks on the fence need to be aware. He was covering it up and misleading months before it became news that COVID seems to be hitting people of color harder.

While he’s definitely a racist…he really doesn’t care about ANYONE else.

When I first read the story I hadn’t realized it was on tape.
Once I did there was some sort of happy dance here.
