Is that on the Dixie Pig menu?
Yes but nobody was willing to attack the capitol on their account and aren’t now either.
I have always thought it was the case in a layman’s way. The article really upped the ante on it. Unfortunately, the concept of Apophenia can then be applied to me as well. Is what I think and have casually linked together valid? One problem we have had is over the last four to five years, the people who would be looking into these things officially have been stunted in their ability and opportunity. There is a lot of root to dig out on this now.
Maybe she’ll splurge for The Trotsky Special.
The article makes it sound like the experts are on the verge of declaring Trump supporters a violent extremist group. It’s about time.
We don’t call it the Trump cult for nothing.
Word.
You are bad very very bad but I laughed.

Yes but nobody was willing to attack the capitol on their account and aren’t now either.
True. But my point was, and remains, that Trump is not the disease, he is, in fact, merely the festering rash it has broken out in. And the next guy leading the mob would not have to be very smart, at all, to be a whole lot smarter than Trump. May our imaginary friend(s) have mercy upon our nation.
Oh hey some good news.
I’m proud to announce the Senate Democratic Committee Memberships for the 117th Congress:https://t.co/lkgrGkMsrd

from his consolidation of power at the very top.
Now THAT is a thing…(whoever does it)
I don’t think there is going to be a “next guy.” Were there two Hitlers?
He’s a one off. And of course we had angry disaffected white people before he showed up to give them their “voice.” And we had extremist groups before him.
But we never had a mob do what this one did and most of the people involved who weren’t members of a particular group have said they did it for one reason: Trump told them to do it. They believed they were being patriotic because he told them that and they want to believe that.
He’s a personality cult. He’s not the embodiment of American racism. He’s a flashpoint for a bunch of people who are racist in addition to other problems they have - he was their drug. Take the drug out of the equation and those people go back to being what they were before him - white assholes, but not insurrectionists.
Now that scares me.
There is going to have to be a coming together of Americans related to what they have in common, not what they hate about each other.
No…to do so does not destroy one’s individuality

don’t think there is going to be a “next guy.”
Ahem.
Knowing that we are being confronted by “a broader mass political movement that has violence at its core” rather than just the known right-wing groups like the Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys doesn’t do much for my peace of mind.
I might have to take a look at the report just to see how the researchers defined “more ‘normal’ Trump supporters” because my Venn diagram doesn’t show any intersection.
I did not complete my last post because I decided to not use personal experience. Social scientists have a concept called “Cultural Universals”
We should start from there
And we should start with the greedy motherfuckers who profit off of intra-national hatreds.

Now that scares me.
See @tena’s reply to me. She may well be right, but I remain scared. I recall that the comically inept “Beer Hall Putsch” preceded Germany’s fall into dictatorship by a full 10 years.
One of those slave-owning white men who founded this country said something about eternal vigilance being the price of having a non-fascist country.
I’m laying in a good supply of espresso.
They were radicalized by Trump.
This new wave of unaffiliated extremists are likely the result of mainstreaming of extremist rhetoric through Trump and the coronavirus shutdowns. I think it's why so many affiliated extremists saw the Reopen Rallies as prime recruitment opportunities.

the coronavirus shutdowns.
That did have a whole lot to do with it.
There will not be another Trump, in my estimation.
But the fuckers who profit off of intra-national hatreds (like Rupert Murdoch) are still here and, in fact, RWNJ progaganda has been identified as a key force in a lot of what we are dealing with.
