Shades of Josef Mengele…
Why it also seems unethical, seemingly reminiscent of the most unconscionable decisions human beings have made in treating other human beings, something akin to Nazi’s (wherein Godwin’s Law does not apply because they are actually doing Nazi-stuff), but also the worst of US past when people were property, that is slavery.
We really need to bottle this thing called history so we can give it this Doctor to use on himself.
“There’s a greater risk of dying from COVID than there is dying from the medication,”
Poor logic! Since Ivermectin does not treat Covid, administering it actually increases the chances for adverse side effects including death.
Can we now classify ‘Stupid’ as a mental illness? Does anybody feel sorry for these people? This is really strange because their stupidity is continuing to intensify. They’re trying to out-stupid themselves.
She needs to do Trump next.
Once upon a time, back in the year 1980, Americans elected Ronald Reagan, President of the United States…
That’s because jets taking off from DIA heading West have to gain enough altitude to clear the Continental Divide.
It’s not an experimental treatment. It’s an off label use not recommended by the FDA and the AMA. ( the AMA emphatically says do not use it ) There’s no therapeutic justification in using it nor does doing so meet any standard of care for COVID.
Folks, the use of medication is highly regulated and subject to a trove of ethics considerations. A doc cannot set that aside and do as he or she likes. Folks are in trouble here.
They better be, but we have seen so many idiots never facing justice.
Texas banned abortion. Florida is the Covid hot-spot, ERs are filling up with people taking worm medicine in Oklahoma and everybody’s hating on Arkansas??? I guarantee you Missouri and Mississippi have nothing to brag about either and as for incest, I thought that was Utah. And which state was it that tried to kidnap their own Governor? It wasn’t Arkansas.
Don’t get me wrong, Arkansas is shit politically but it’s got more going for it than fucking Texas.
Okay, I’m done.
Ivermectin does seem to have real potential as a therapeutic treatment for COVID-19, with on-going clinical research underway, well beyond in-vitro studies. This is not hydroxychloroquine all over again.
The Arkansas prison doctor administering the drug without informed consent is a direct human rights criminal, as is the sheriff who is his immediate supervisor, although it’s possible he’s negligently so. Ex post facto doesn’t excuse the crime, but the truth of the matter is that sick inmates may have actually benefited.
People who oppose Trumpism should be cautious when making broad-brush negative statements about ivermectin. They, and the public health / medical community risk ending up furthering the manipulators who gnaw at our society by fostering distrust, doubt and confusion if, as appears more likely than not, it is found to be useful in treatment of the disease.
Yes, it is stupid to guzzle veterinary nostrums on the basis of politics and conspiracy theory. People should wear masks and get vaccinated before choosing the feed store option out of ignorance, delusion, fear or self-righteousness. But it is equally stupid to simply dismiss therapeutic potential out of hand on the basis of opposite political views, as does some commentary above. [ed. - and below.]
A significant reason people are taking horse dewormer is the harsh reality that many cannot afford medical care in these United States, and desperately seek alternatives to impoverishment by our corporate industrial health care system. No excuse for not taking advantage of sensible, no-cost preventative measures, but if you have irrationally refused to do so, are financially challenged and getting sick, the feed store becomes a rational choice.
Hey, I live in Kansas, home of Kris Kobach so I’m used to getting shit. I’d say most states deserve to be kicked in the nads more than once for less than stellar behavior.
…0% mortality in over 350 documented cases at the jail.
So, um, where is the documentation? In a storage facility in Louisiana, perhaps?
You have a constitutional right to get shot, but not to medical attention.
There is no therapeutic potential, just medical malpractice.
The wrong people in Arkansas are not in jail.
Well, Colby, Kansas is the home of Wheat Jesus. He’s peaking out from behind the wheat on a billboard sign on the I 70 exit. I wish I had a picture because it’s absolutely hilarious. I don’t know if you’ve seen it but Oh, Wheat Jesus!
You mean the one where @robg was so insistent that it was just a plain doctor/patient thing and what’s the big deal?
Not true. Did you read the medical journal article I linked? If not, then you’ve demonstrating the pitfall I mentioned regarding politically derived prejudice. If you did read it, please explain how therapeutic potential was not supported, because that’s the opposite of what that reputable study found. Yes, more research is needed, but the potential is there. And that would be a good thing.
And yes, the prison doctor engaged in malpractice, although the human rights crime is more serious.
Perhaps you mean to say “no approved therapeutic use for COVID”, which is a different thing from “therapeutic potential”.
Nuance: it’s a librul thang.
