Democratic Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, who is at the forefront of the battle over the state Senate GOP’s bogus 2020 election results “audit,” launched a bid for governor on Wednesday.
This is actually a great way to fight back. At the very least it keeps this stuff out in front of the AZ voters, opening the batshit crazy Magats to greater scrutiny. Not to mention potential legal consequences.
In an ideal world out here, she’d be replaced by Adrian Fontes, who lost his Maricopa Elections job by a narrow margin. They might be realizing what they lost by getting rid of him and opening it all up for the crazies. It could be a set-up for something good if we can make it happen.
There’s a lot of stupidity here. A LOT. Lemme tell ya. In fact I got a visit from some Jehovah’s Witnesses a bit ago today when I was out watering my garden. I was sad to inform these nice but over dressed folk that Jesus was still dead. Conspiracy theory is an old and well known thing.
EDIT
I would be happy to cast my vote for Katie Hobbs but these days is my vote worth it? I mean… my state’s idiot inhabited government wants to nullify my vote if I don’t vote the way they think I should. And not just how I vote but also which party I vote for.
I will. Come what may. Especially if some goon wants to lean over my shoulder and watch… In that case I might demand to watch them vote and examine their ballot and see how they feel about it…
Secretaries of State are relatively obscure. Arizona rethugs have made Hobbs a household name. She is probably going to be able to raise $$ nationally. The first law of unintended consequences will kick in very soon.
ETA. First law of unintended consequences: tangential happenstance screws up everything.
This “audit” is nothing more than a grift wherein the chief perpetrators of this grievous assault on our democracy are using it as a launching pad for their political careers. May they be branded with a scarlet F (for fascist) for life.
