Arizona Dem Sworn In After Weeks of Delay by Speaker Johnson

Originally published at: Arizona Dem Sworn In After Weeks of Delay by Speaker Johnson

After seven weeks of unprecedented delays, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) on Wednesday finally formally swore in Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva (D-AZ). The swearing in ceremony came after Johnson called the House back into session — after refusing to do so for more than a seven weeks — to vote on the Senate-passed continuing resolution that…

Republicans need to start calling for Trump to resign, and they need to start doing that now, otherwise they are going to go down too.

Can signees remove their signatures at this late date? If possible, my guess is we won’t have the necessary 218 for long.

What?? So the discharge petition just means that now the House can vote whether or not to demand the release of the Epstein Files? And then the Senate has to pass the same exact bill?? The Files can’t just be released to the House?

And given the Senate requirement for concurrence, which it’s assumed cannot even happen, that means Trump gets to veto the whole thing, making the exercise all but futile?? Really?

And finally, Adelita never needed to be sworn in by Big Mike; anybody could have done it? And saved Arizona all the sturm und drang?

The United States sure has managed to make doing ANYTHING really hard. This can’t continue. Better yet, it shouldn’t.

I wish she had asked to be sworn in holding a copy of the Constitution.

If the Speaker is absent or refuses, the House can pass a resolution authorizing someone else to perform the ceremony.

A Lovely Couple

Did he have commitment issues?

if Johnson won’t administer the oath, it can be administered “by any person authorized by law to administer oaths under the law of the United States, the District of Columbia, or the State of Arizona.”

That’s a beautiful argument because it should be so. Not debatable.

My guess is a bunch of Republicans are going to vote for the discharge petition. A lot of Republican rank and file are committed to figuring out just who is in those files. They think they are going to find Bill Clinton and some other Democrats. Frankly all of the Democrats should be interested as well. My guess is a lot of well known rich guys are in the files and I suspect there was a foreign intelligence component to Epstein’s activities. The opportunity for blackmail was just too great.

And my representative and high school acquaintance, Mike “the most popular kid in school” Baumgartner, will not be one of them. I’m seriously thinking that we need to actively fund all of the Democratic candidates in my district and hopefully crowd out Mike Baumgartner (Washington and California have top two primaries). I don’t think that’ll happen, mind you, but a boy can dream.

I would love to see a general election between an establishment Democrat like Carnela Conroy and a progressive Democrat like Ann Marie Danimus, which is why despite the fact that I am probably going to vote for Danimus, I will probably give them both money, unless Conroy takes money from AIPAC or something.

If they didn’t do that when their own lives were threatened, what makes you think they care what happens to underage, powerless females?

Trump is getting pretty “jumpy” about this whole thing - especially with the Congresswoman from AZ sworn in. He has been pressuring a few select ReThugs to “un-sign”the discharge petition, which I am not sure that is a thing, but who knows.

Methinks Trump protestith too much to be innocent, that Epstein knew too much and paid dearly for it, and that there are video tapes somewhere of the Mango doing the dirty (with a child) in Epstein’s house, stashed somewhere…..maybe Moscow. Epstein had Russian connections - he may have been paid to film Trump and when someone (Micheal Wolff ?) told him about it, Trump went crazy and did some crazy things - like tear down the whole East Wing of the White House and started to talk up 50 mortgages…..Rex was right.

Just an educated good guess, but I am a “master of the obvious” and where there is smoke there is fires. This last batch of e-mails is not a good look of Trump or any of his Minions.

My guess is that pages and pages have been forged and only loyalist FBI personnel were allowed to look at the real deal. They’ll never tell because that’s where we are in America - Billionaire bank accounts are protected by a moronic, boorish, bankrupt who likes to grope teenage girls.

“High five, Adelita?”

“Fuck you.”

And they very likely will. But Democrats don’t hesitate to throw their own to the dogs if it’s deserved. Look how many turned on Bill Clinton in the past, and more recently. Not to mention poor Hillary…

I’m also suspicion about her being sworn in. Rethugliklans are risk (and fairness) averse and prefer to act only after the fix is in.
