The Obama Administration is going to promulgate a rule to force automakers to include “black boxes” in their cars to record events before crashes, but there aren’t any corresponding or consistent rules governing the whole process of collecting and using the data, according to a Monday article at Wired.com.The boxes are known as “event data recorders,” and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is expected next month to rule that all vehicles must have one, Wired reports.
