Good morning USA from Belize & PG by the Sea ! This is my Saturday morning breakfast crowd,Candy dog & 5 of her cat buddies all snoozing in harmony. The news from my old home always makes me sad, reinforces my belief that it was time to leave. There is always Hope, going back to when Pandora first opened the box but it’s being hounded by the forces of Greed & Destruction. I wish the best of fortune to you all…..

My tribe now includes 12 cats, 1 dog, 5 chickens & 6 ducks ! I’m working with a veterinarian on donating my property to have a veterinarian center opened on it. Currently Punta Gorda has zero veterinarians available as the local doctor had a stroke 2 weeks ago. And so many animals in desperate need of care

We were 3 cats, the dog and dozens of various wild bird specie we fed seed to:
There were also (in our front yard) ground squirrels, lizards and the cotton tail rabbit family. These days the dog and cats have passed on but the outside critters are still here. Being kind to them gets me thru these ugly trump filled days.

Thank you ! The veterinarian center is desperately needed right now, especially with the screw worm outbreak. The lady who runs the local animal rescue center sent me pictures of 3 small kittens that had been brought to them. Overnight they showed the screwworms infestation and had to be euthanized immediately. The pictures were gruesome beyond words

Trump shrugs as Wolf Blitzer details his assault on the press in WSJ award speech
The White House Correspondents’ Dinner faced an awkward moment on Friday when CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer confronted President Donald Trump with his attack on journalism.
Blitzer was onstage to present reporters from The Wall Street Journal for bombshell reporting last year, exposing Trump’s [lewd birthday poem](Trump sent Epstein risqué letter featuring nude woman and vulgar signature: WSJ - Raw Story) from decades ago to late billionaire financier and child trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, in which he sketched an image of a naked woman and wrote, "may every day be another wonderful secret.
As Trump sat there, listening to all of this, Blitzer added, “Trump filed a lawsuit against The Journal, revealing a reporter’s home address.”
At this, Trump’s only reaction a shrug.
Barely an hour into the ceremony, CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer took the podium and announced the winners of the Katherine Graham Award for Courage and Accountability.
“This year’s award goes to the Wall Street Journal,” Blitzer said. “The Journal’s courageous reporting on President Trump’s past relationship with financier Jeffrey Epstein triggered the release of the so-called Epstein files, thousands of documents that might otherwise have remained hidden from the public.”
Dementia Donnie just sat there smirking.
“And despite the president’s threat of a lawsuit, the Journal published a story about a provocative letter to Epstein bearing President Trump’s signature,” Blitzer continued. “Trump quickly filed a $20 billion lawsuit against the Journal, revealing reporter Khadeeja Safdar’s home address. Her family had to be relocated. The Journal was kicked off of Air Force One. But the reporters continue to file revelatory stories.”
Trump then had to stand there and shake hands with the journalists in what must have been an absolutely BIZARRE moment for the journalists involved.
What an incredible irony for Trump to have to sit there and clap as his shame was broadcast to the entire nation.

In that same vein the tiny wasps have invaded our butterfly sanctuary. We’ve had to dispose of around 20 chrysalises (chrysili?)
Here are some that came out but wrong.
Some of the chrysili (I’m going with that) were filled with wasp larvae.
We are very sad.

There are no government animal shelters anywhere in Belize, and countless numbers of strays. There is no push for spay/neuter and more animals born every day. I also feed 2 large dogs who technically have homes but who’s owners can’t afford to feed them. The veterinarian center will not just provide cheap veterinary care but also act as an outreach center to try and educate people on responsible pet ownership and the absolute need to neuter their pets

The butterfly news is very sad, I hope the infestation doesn’t do permanent harm to the population there. One of my very favorite things to see here in Belize are the incredible Blue Morpho butterflies, so big and beautiful. Pictures do not capture the beauty of them. They flit aroundas dazzling blue jewels, big as birds. I see one ever week or so at my place and it always brightens my day

The screwworms are beyond ghastly. If you’ve ever come upon an animal corpse that is being consumed by maggots it is a gross site. But that animal is dead. Screwworms do the same thing to living animals who then die in agony. And humans are just as susceptible…. Of all the things MAGA has done cutting research into combating screwworms is maybe the most detestable
