An appeals court declined a request by former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio that the criminal contempt finding made against him be wiped off the books now that has been pardon by President Trump.
Arpaio is inherently contemptible.
So he was trying to “expunge” the case? Sorry, he’ll have to live with it – as he should.

So… he get’s to say he was ‘innocent’ because he was never ‘convicted’? I mean in layman’s terms. That’s a win. I thought in order to get a pardon - or ACCEPT a pardon - one had to ‘admit’ guilt? Or am I imagining that? Is there somewhere in the ‘record’ where he admits to being guilty?

As well it should’ve. Accepting a pardon is an irrevocable admission of guilt.
Yup, short-circuiting the justice process by accepting the pardon means you get to live with that asterisk for the rest of your life.

I have lived in Maricopa county in AZ since 1970, so I was here for every precious second of Arpaio’s reign. I was accosted once at a parade for booing him non-stop when he rolled by. My wife worked at the county hospital, Maricopa Medical Center, the only institution for the indigent locally, when Arpaio thought it would be cute to park an immigration van right outside the ER entrance 24/7. I watched in horror as 60 minutes got him national recognition as “America’s Toughest Sheriff”, instead of “America’s Most Corrupt POS”. I watched as people who stood up to him suddenly had their children busted for drugs or child pornography miraculously found on their computers. He is the worst of the worst of the worst, and he should be spending the rest of his life in jail.
Trump’s pardon is unpardonable.
This takes me back to 2004. My wife and I had moved into our first house in Glendale, AZ, from where we watched a crew of Guatamalans build our neighbors’ houses. It’s amazing what you can learn over a friendly ‘hola’ and a case of Pacifico.
Anyway, if then-Sheriff Joe OurPiehole, as I came to call him, had given the slightest damn about home builders’ illegal hiring practices, he could’ve effortlessly gathered evidence of 50 labor violations per day in our subdivision alone, because developments were walled off with only 2 exits. But this would’ve greatly inconvenienced the builders and caused them to miss deadlines, run up expenses, and lose profits. So OurPiehole was too conveniently busy making prisoners wear pink underwear and putting webcams in the holding cells, until well after Wall Street’s housing bubble burst, destroying the whole economy and turning struggling families who’re not each other’s enemies against one another.
I’m not saying he should have profiled Latino-appearing people sooner, only that he’s a johnny-come-lately, lying sack of shit for conveniently letting most of the construction work dry up on its own, before riding the wave of struggling people turning against one another. In fact, he never begun to care about employers’ illegal hiring practices at all. He stands out as a reprobate among a party full of derelicts.
I guess Joe won’t be exhonorated.
